New style seating for Splash?

That is very weird!! Looks uncomfortable to me. So is this a prototype or have the logs actually been changed out?

I agree about the HM news...maybe they will bring that effect down to FL.!!

Thanks for sharing the info:)

I highly doubt that what is in that pic is the final configuration. You don't force people to turn their back on the show. My guess is they are testing a new log that is not complete, but they wanted to test weight or something so they lashed in the other seats. I could be wrong but I would be amazed if we ever saw the boats in that configuration. The entry/exit would be a nightmare.

I think what would be a more likely set up would be to have four people facing forward and then have the back row wider, allowing for 2 people, although I'm not sure why they couldn't just have 4 rows that hold 2 people like at WDW, if that works.

Glad to see Space Mountain is looking at a July opening and that Buzz is apparently impressive--with as much bashing as Al tends to do toward new rides, it must be pretty good if he says it's fine.

I think you are probably right there. I guess they are on the sides to even out the weight distribution.

Great news on Space Mountain. I'm really hopeful for that opening date, because I'll be there! :D

And.. the new HM effect sounds great. I'm really happy with all the improvements and upgrades Disneyland is getting. :sohappy:

I don't think anything will happen with the seating arrangement, that is of course unless they are thinking of switching to the arrangement of WDW's version (however, that would mean larger logs, and the flume will probably need to be widened to accommodate them, right?).

At least most of the attractions (Space, JC, and Lincoln are the only ones that are going to be closed) will be open when I return in March.... :D

I can't say that im quite impressed with this arrangement. I mean, you wouldn't be able to look at all the things around you unless you're in the back 2.:( What's the fun of that??

On the other hand, that Haunted Mansion thing is pretty neat, I'd love to see it:sohappy:

The only reason they are like that is so they don't move. Look closely they are tied down and that is the only way they could do it. People would still face forward like always.

I think the effort is just to increase capacity a little--I'm guessing those back two seats are smaller than the others--more geared toward kids.

They would have to be smaller, yes. I mean, I consider myself super-skinny, and I think even I'd be uncomfortable sitting next to myself in one of those logs.

And I'm sure it's an effort to increase capacity. They really lost a lot of space when they put those seats in. The benches were fine with me! :)

1. Yep. Trying to raise capacity, and to make a new seat where little ones can sit with a parent.

2. Of course they will all face forward...... :hammer:

3. Can't widen the trough, hence they can't widen the logs.

4. And I beat Al to the punch on that Leota thing. I posted that here, what...2 weeks ago?

I guess you beat Jim Hill with the Incredibles E-Ticket in DCA as well then :) (not that you were that specific, but you did beat him ;))

Robocoaster and Movie Screens, Mr Hill says.

The Robocoaster part is news to me.
I heard they were a bit worried about capacity problems with that system, but my info on that is a bit stale.

I wonder... did disney hire some old uni people?? using an old concept for a attraction at IOA for the incredibles is brilliant.... (i wonder how it will fit in)

That makes me wonder if Universals main reason for ditching the Robocoaster concept was because of capacity issue. While the idea seems awsome, it does seem as if the biggest con is low cap.
