Those are really cool, but does anyone have antennas anymore?
We have 4 cars at my house but only one antenna. I'd probably have dozens of those things if I had a car with an antenna.

Eww, for mroe then 2x what they cost. They only $4.95 at WDW. Surely getting shipping from the mouse wouldn't bump it up to $11.
You just stole the words out of my mouth. The mouse is nicer then that! Or maybe I'm in a giving mood after watching Finding Nemo... Hmm... I wonder... :p

I put mine atop a cheap little note-spire. You know, when you have lost notes, papers, etc and you impale them on a little spire. All old-fashion pre-3M PostIts. I got mine from Staples.

And if you want to buy from laughingplace, they have littl bases to stick them on too.

Look! Only $1.99! It's called a message/memo/note spindle.

When you have a 1994 Geo Prizm, yeah you have an antenna . My mom's 2004 Toyota Sienna has an antenna, but my dad's Mazda 3 has a small antenna on the back of the roof of the car.

2007 Chrysler Town and Country has the antenna... SSE could go on there!

Sometime last month they rolled out. I'm always looking for SSE themed stuff and I love antenna toppers and didn't see them until today, so they probably only came out in the last few weeks.

And to add.. There have been several newer SSE related items lately, including a neat jewelry holder cup thing that has figment holding up SSE (it opens at the equator.)

I had to pick up this one to check and make sure it was an actual antenna topper - with the little hole in the bottom. It is perfectly capable of sitting on its little legs.

Merf - are you sure the "jewelry holder" Figment piece isn't in fact a snowglobe? Because I bought something very similar-sounding over a month ago. Just want to make sure...

Oh, and I bought the SSE antenna topper on April 22nd, so they've been out at least 2 weeks. I found mine at ImageWorks. I had to go through all of them to find 2 that didn't have their legs ripped. It's a very delicate piece, so be careful!

I saw they had them in Test Track's gift shop. Personally, I didn't like them. Only Disney fans would know what it is, other people on the road would have no idea.

On a side note, rode SSE and there's nothing noticeably different from the breif closure. The lounge got rid of tarps and has real reflective glass now - and that's it.

Rode SSE Today... the 3rd guy on the Phonecian boat was missing, the one crouched over pulling the rope...that's the ONLY difference I noticed.

Okay... didn't EPCOT open in October or so, 25 years ago?

I suspect the "wand o' gawdy" comes down by then, and a strong PR campaign including TV specials, etc. urges folks to come relive the excitement, blah, blah...

Not a coincidence in my opinion for Disney to be marketing more "retro" gear... When have they ever been known to just market a new slew of things without something to back it up?

Also, on my 2007 vacation planner dvd, their are aerial shots galore of the SSE sans wand (old footage I know - but why hide the current look from future visitors???).

---if they want the wand to be recognizable or part of the attraction much longer, why show it in the new dvd without it?---

Just thinking out loud.

I hope to see some removal going on while I'm in the park come the 28th-30th... Gotta see Illuminations:RoE more than once!:animwink:

The problem with your logic is that it makes perfect sense. That's why Disney has given every indication that they're defying that logic...it's not mentioned too much anymore, but are you aware that Brad Rex made a statement a few months ago that there would be no public celebration of Epcot's 25th anniversary? Of course, he's gone now so there's at least a possibility that the whole thing might change, but I'm not holding my breath.

I will say that all those signs you mention have been a little suspicious. (Though remember, some of them, even the cool retro merchandise, might mean nothing more than Disney milking a few bucks out of that 1982 "look".) But the vacation planning video shots without the wand did make me raise an eyebrow. It's not just stock footage--they even go so far as to set up shots of the host without any sign of the wand, at least in the video I've seen. Add to that the rehab Spaceship Earth is undergoing inside, and the possibility of ending the Leave a Legacy scheme...I'll admit it makes it all feel like something might be happening very, very slowly.

But...I'm still not holding my breath.
