New Shamu Show

I have reliable sources at SeaWorld who say there will be a new Shamu Show in the next two years. I know this may not be news to many people, but it's still interesting!

What do you think they'll do to change it?

Sounds good, maybe they'll change the video and stuff that goes with the show? OR maybe this is a change to the night show?

I hope that if they do change it, that it will only be the day show that gets changed because I think everything on the night time show is just awesome, the effects, the whales, the music... just great!

Yup, it's true. I've heard either 2005 or 2006 as an opening date. As to actual show details, I really haven't heard any. I am assuming this show will be another one to span at least SWF and SWC, if not SWT as well (they just recently started running The Shamu Adventure).

Personally, I'd love to see them rely less on the video screen. It's a great supplement, but IMHO The Shamu Adventure relies on it too much, and it really slows down the show's momentum.

As for the night shows, I really love Shamu Rocks America. Well done, very upbeat, recognizable songs. I do hope, however, that House of Douse (SWC's night show) gets changed. It's all done to techno music, which is a cool idea, but after awhile it starts to feel really repetitive, for lack of a better term.

How about we put some characters in the show? :lookaroun j/k

We love "Shamu Rocks America" :king: - but a change in music would be nice. The daytime show is also very good - but the video introduction (with Jack Hannah ?) is in desperate need of a change.
While on the topic of SeaWorld - Does anyone remember the Clyde and Seymour show - Hotel Clyde and Seymour - is it me or is this show infinitely better than C&S Take Treasure Island ?

I agree the video slows down the momentum of the show but i suppose that if they have the killer whales going for the whole show, and they do say 5 shows a day then they will get worn out. Its better for them to do only little blasts of what they do best ? I think a new video is in order though. I'm no killer whale expert though, anyone know exactly how much these guys can do in a day or how much SeaWorld will let them do ? Obviously they are very powerful creatures but SeaWorld is all about conservation i suppose ?

Having the killer whales do more work in each show would not be a problem for them. :) Killer whales out in the wild can travel a couple hundred miles in a day. They have incredible stamina. And while SeaWorld's whales obviously aren't used to travelling that much, they certainly are no slouches, either. :) I've seen some of our whales out here (especially the babies and younger adults) that are full of energy all day long... Sumar, Nakai, Kohana, and Takara in particular. Add to that the fact that they switch whales out several times during the show, so it's not the same whales the whole time anyways. They rotate the whales in and out of shows, so sometimes a particular whale won't even be in the show at all. So I wouldn't think having them do more in the show would tax them at all.

Seymour & Clyde! OMG I loved them when I was a kid! But I haven't been to ANY Sea World in almost 20 years. Last time I went was when the one by Cleveland was still open (how's *that* for showing my age?). I remember it was the prehistoric show too... 2000 BC or something like that. I think my parents still have photos somewhere at their house. And I remember my mom always rushing my dad and I to the show to beat when the mime beforehand did his "pre-show" thing, picking on audience members as they walked into the "arena".

At least you haven't been cursed with "Fools With Tools" yet! It's playing here in San Diego, and in San Antonio as well. It's pretty bad. Probably the weakest of our shows here.

Agreed. The show desparately needs retooling...and a paint job (at least last time I was there). But "Sea Lions Tonight!" has been pretty good. Oh, the pet show here in SWC also needs work. But yeah, back to Shamu....

I have to say first that I love the soundtrack to the show, but the show does kind of get old after a while. Perhaps a new show w/ variables (things that change show to show) would be more interesting.

You know I've never seen the pet show? LOL I work there and I've never watched it. But yes, I loved Sea Lions Tonite! I'm psyched for it to start back up. It's so much fun to sit back and laugh at all the shows they make fun of.

I love the Shamu Adventure soundtrack as well. Bought it back when I first came down here in 2000. I wish they used all of the tracks though, a few remain unused here in San Diego. One was used in a "chase" scene for the Commerson's dolphins in the old SeaWorld of Ohio... the same Commersons that will soon be on display at Journey to Atlantis.

I agree about varying the show. I see it regularly (with another friend who does as well) and especially any of the video segments, we automatically start tuning out and gossip about the whales instead. ;) I imagine varying the show would be good for the whales, as well - it keeps them from getting into a set routine, which can aggravate them if there is a sudden change.

I love that guy too! So hilarious when he follows in the late guests and shows them out at the other side or to a hidden door!:sohappy: :sohappy:

Thank you!!! Ugh!!! Jack Hannah is a good guy... but I am so over that video with him in it!!!

I love the mime at the Clyde & Seymour show... I like to get there early just to watch him... he's hilarious!
