Yep...And if they do this, I rreeeeeeally wish the $$$ would be allocated elsewhere. Ride > Resturant any-day.

I wouldn't mind the 2nd floor concept if you could reserve/purchase "viewing" tables during illuminations for your party. Could be an interesting concept that could be duplicated at other countries.

Yeah ... again, WalMarting. Magical.

The cheapest little Mexican dive in a strip center in Central FLA will serve you fresh home made chips and salsa.

But at EPCOT? You get them tasty bag Tostitos and salsa just like you picked them up at the WalMart SuperCenter on 535 for the big game.

It wasn't always this way. They used to serve delicious chips hot out of the oven with originally two kinds (late just one) of home-made salsa ... they were great ... they were still doing this as late as 2001-02 ... but when I returned after a few year absence in 2005 or possibly 2006 they were out of the bag and I was shocked by such a tacky stunt at what is considered a high end restaurant.

Haven't been back since.

As to the topic of this thread, all of what was listed in the OP was/is planned. I have no idea if the economy has slowed or cancelled these plans.

Really hope they don't do this. Seems wasteful when so many other thing in EPCOT need help.

Yep. Used to be a nice big basket of hot chips. I used to get the nachos as an entre. Samec chips, but with lots of meats and cheeses...wonderful.
Then at some point (post 2003, if I recall)...it changed....:(

While the view and location would be nice...I really don't wand them screwing with the esthetics of the Mexico Pav. and WS.

What Mexican company is the sponsor of the pavilion? Perhaps they've decided that they want to put money into refurbing and upgrading their pavilion, and all this work is being done at their request (and on their dime)...

Seriously!:lol::lol:

I want more than a glorified anime gift shop and a bad restaurant.:lookaroun:lookaroun

But the theming is good.:lookaroun

You just don't learn yer lesson do you, my friend?

The shop is amazing. Like I've said, they DON'T actually carry stuff from my favorite shows so my opinion is NOT influenced by the fact that they do carry items that are related to Anime. Once again, I haven't bought an Anime-related item from Japan in years, so you know that I'm being completely honest when I say it's more than a "glorified Anime gift shop".

and the themeing is GREAT thank you.
:p

A ride or show would only make it even better.

Back OT. I amazed everyone freaks about the chips (I agree) but totally ignores fresh tortillas (like Pappasito's in Texas). I consider that a must have - how else do you wipe up the last bits of beans and rice on your plate?

The thing is, "fresh" tortilla chips are almost easier to make in a restaruant than opening a bag. There are automatic machines that you just load with flour and water and it make tortillas for you - it just cranks them out. Then you get a production line fryer (not a oven, chips are fried, not baked) just like in a doughnut shop, and the tortillas go in one end and chips come out the other. It really does not add much labor to the whole process and unless Tostio's is giving them a break for some reason, it comes out cheaper.

This is still somthing I don't understand about the place.

For some reason though, I do belive the tortilla chips in the Sopa Azteca are homemade. They are not chips, but are long strips. It is kind of hard to tell when there is soup on top of them, but they seemd non-bagged to me. If they make them for the soup, why not for "normal" use.

Esparza's in Grapevine :) Anytime I am in the DFW area, that place demands a stop.

I've been to Mexico, and I've had all three of the dominant versions of Mexican food; and the crap inside that pyramid doesn't taste like any of them. It doesn't even taste like Tex-Mex or American "Mexican."
Yep. When I lived in California, I was convinced this place wouldn't have lasted three weeks before going out of business.

Now that I live an hour and a half, or more, from the nearest decent Mexican restaurant, and have for more than ten years, I find that SAI is a lot less bad than it used to be. ;)

...Because you know a ride in Japan would inherently be amazing.
:p

I'll take...

A: Meet the World, refreshed from the 80's and brought to the space that was built for it.

B: Mt. Fuji Disguised Show Building hiding a Thrill Ride taking us through Epic Feudal Japanese Folk Tales of morality and spirits.

c: Dark Ride utilizing the Meet the World building and a new extension featuring a large tree facade. Guests travel back into the forest behind the Yakatori House and go inside the large tree and set off aboard a CatBus for a Dark Ride retelling of Hayo Miyazaki's "My Neighbor Totoro"

Yes Please!

2 "stories" may not be what you think...the seating at the Rose & Crown is 2 levels, it's just that the "top floor" is actually ground level, and then you walk down to the seating along the lake...perhaps they can take this approach in Mexico as well?
