I was at the MK for rope drop twice in the last two weeks. Oddly enough, the last time I was there for rope drop was 2007. They had the pre-opening show and the ropes on Main Street, as usual. Each land also had its own virtual rope drop. In other words, the people carrying the ropes down Main Street would disappear once they reached the hub. Then, there were CM's at the entrance to each land who formed a human wall which would walk to the guests through the land to make sure no one ran.
There were CM's standing on the bridge between the hub and Liberty Square. Anyone wanting to go to the HM or FL would follow them. If you wanted to go to Frontierland you could walk unescorted, but you would be stopped by this. It's hard to see in this pic, but there is a wall of CM's.
This last picture is for those, like me, that love to see pictures of the parks when they are empty.
