New announcement for PKI. A mini Cooper Ride. Look familiar????

Paramount Pictures’ The Italian Job™ Premieres as a High-Speed Mini Cooper™ Stunt Car Ride at Paramount’s
Kings Island in 2005

Stunt drivers dodge near-collisions, chase through tunnels and narrowly escape massive explosions triggered by gunfire from a menacing helicopter.

Another Hollywood big-screen spectacular comes to life at Paramount’s Kings Island with the addition of THE ITALIAN JOB: Stunt Track™, a new multi-million dollar fast-track coaster experience for 2005. Based on the high-action finale of Paramount Pictures’ The Italian Job (2003) starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, Seth Green, Mos Def, and Donald Sutherland, this new wild ride takes families on a high-speed stunt car adventure through movie sets and scenes inspired by the film’s climatic chase sequence.

Park guests will experience what it’s like to be a Hollywood stunt driver and go behind the scenes of an action movie. Guests board their very own MINI Cooper S tricked out with audio special effects adding to the multi-sensory sensation of the experience. Once strapped into their custom stunt car, rubber meets the road as the MINIs peel out to begin their chase sequence. Drivers twist through a parking garage, dodge near-collisions, race down stairs, chase through tunnels and narrowly escape massive explosions triggered by gunfire from a menacing helicopter. Tires skid out one last time as the stunt cars crash through a billboard and splash down into an L.A. aqueduct concluding the chase sequence and their trial as a stunt driver in this screen test!

Wow. That looks awesome. I wish I lived closer to Cinci. I may have to make a special trip for it. Unlike Test Track, this is a coaster. It should be fun.

It does look pretty sweet. It will be a push to complete it for next years opening. I have not noticed any pre-construction areas within the park.

Based on the short time frame, I am sure theming will once again take a back seat to the THRILL.

As far as making a special trip. There is alot to do at the park. The newly expanded Waterpark and the home of the BEAST Family create a thrilling day. I will say this, the park opens daily after Memorial day and runs through Labor day. Before and after that is about 5 to 6 weeks of weekend only operation.

I don't know...PKI has not really been focusing on THRILL as much as other Ohio parks the past few years....since SOB was built at least.

Good point, but in general, the themeing has never been a priority. Take Adventure Express for example. As a ride goes, I really like it and it is one my kids can both ride. But the theme to the ride just wizzes by. So many of these rides are built to get people on and then off. A few stops here and there would help the theme out. Still a nice ride and even better at night.

Rides like SOB and The Beast are coasters and coasters only. The thrill is their purpose and both excel at their job.

I will say that the video for this one (Italian Job) looks pretty good. We'll see.

My wife was going to take me to Cedar Point for my birthday, but we couldn't work out a time. Maybe we can hit both parks next summer.
