Wailulu should've been the QS, and there should've been a TS at the top. Not sure why they didn't take better advantage of the view for a restaurant.
It's true.Have a friend who returned about 3 weeks ago and said the increased crowds from the tower basically ruin the place.
Another great job, Bob…way to slam more people into a spot with nothing for them to do
Very sad to hearIt's true.
We were very busy with the parks and didn't spend a whole lot of time at the resort, but it was sad. They have the sandy beach out front that my granddaughters loved, but it's small and there was no way to clean off their feet and though we tried I'm sure we dragged sand into the lobby. (It's probably not really meant for play but there wasn't a whole lot else to do to let them unwind.)
They have a fake grass area with one chess set and I think some cornhole set up. We never used the pool because it just didn't seem worth the hassle.
I still love these resorts and they have areas of beautiful landscaping, etc. I just wish they would spend a little more effort (and money) thinking things through from a guest experience perspective.
Regarding food service, I was thinking something as simple as a few themed food trucks would be better than the crazy they have going on there.![]()
And that’s why it’s bad managementThere’s a new pool but no QS, which people called a massive mistake from the start. They really need to remedy that asap.
And that pool looks just ok…a puddle with water in it. Which we can get at the holiday innThere’s a new pool but no QS, which people called a massive mistake from the start. They really need to remedy that asap.
Because that’s not the scam…I mean…”model”Wailulu should've been the QS, and there should've been a TS at the top. Not sure why they didn't take better advantage of the view for a restaurant.
PIT (gotta love the acronym!) has a hot tub.Apparently a hot tub is WAY too much to ask…cause when you charge $750 a night…that only goes so far![]()
Well that’s good (for the 4 people it fits)

You could easily call the Polyday Inn a parasitic load on the existing amenities. Fortunately they can't stumble away from the large open bar downstairs over to Tambu.
Did they not add any parking for this? Google does not show any but does show the buildingI mean…I think this one is of particularly poor effort…
So save the “but I think it’s worth it to ME” (the sign someone just blew $30,000 without thinking)
But the the greater point is when they slap cookie cutter “villas” in on top of existing 55 year old spaces…everyone loses.
They added trader sams, refurbed the lobby (not well…but whatever) and redid the pool before they did a straight conversion 10 years ago…
Now they add about 250ish? And do what?
Just raises everyone’s frustration level…period.
I’d say the last dvc convert where they did “enough” might be…I don’t even know?
I guess wilderness lodge 2?
Kinda defeats the purpose to sleep in your car out back when it’s 84 at 3 am, doesn’t it?Did they not add any parking for this? Google does not show any but does show the building
The tower has a small lot, without a guard booth or anything (just an arm). You pretty much have to try and use your phone to enter and hope it’s part of the 30% of the time that MDE actually works to unlock a door.Did they not add any parking for this? We just stayed one night a few weeks ago. We aren't Disney World purist (first stay dec 2019) but we have no issues with the addition. I disliked not having a shop or really a front desk there. The pictures make the lobby seem way bigger than it is which surprised me. My wife loved the gym, only have heard good things about the restaurant and the pool was not busy at all and was bigger than I expected. The view from whatever the thing is called on the 5th floor was cool and I liked the addition of them for lounge spotsHaving had a chance to finally see this in-person, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I was wrong after initially being SO against it. Pictures don't do the tower justic at all.
I still firmly believe the exterior could have been better designed and themed, but overall it's smaller and blends better than it comes across in photos. I'll happily eat my initial negativity.
I agree about the front desk. When my wife and I stayed there in February, we had no idea where to go to talk to someone to see if our room was ready or would be ready soon and the 1 CM standing in the lobby showed no interest in offering assistance. The room itself was nice but that building really needs it's own Quick Service restaurant. They should have done QS and the outdoor bar on the 1st floor and a rooftop restaurant similar to Topolino's. Rooftop dining with fireworks views would basically print money every night and would have allowed for some much-needed QS capacity on the 1st floor instead of adding to the overcrowding problem at Capt. True, I do think they have their reasons as to why they didn't go the route of a rooftop dining no matter how spectacular the view may be. The top roof portion of that building is so bulky, it's the only part that still stands off-ish I don't know why they could of done better and made it a longhouse triangular roof instead. What's interesting about the first floor restaurant is from morning to 11am it's free open seating. The inside seating area is rather compact, it looks like it would suit more as quick service seating. I get why the outdoor first floor isn't quick service because the view is so perfect everyone would want to sit there and if there is no control of organizing seating then I don't know how that would go especially at night can you imagine for fireworks! The Polynesian is supposed to be no different from all the other great resorts, however the Poly tends to be a beast of itself as a everyone wants to must go vibe that places like Ohana and Trader Sam's, bar, and Dole Whip stand. Fireworks on the beach. Just factor in all that vibe but now on a rooftop as rooftop dining you got yourself the hardest reservation to get and how many people would crowd just to see the view. In my opinion the view is amazing on the first floor but still who doesn't want to be up in the sky! They should have done QS and the outdoor bar on the 1st floor and a rooftop restaurant similar to Topolino's.
