Did they push the shoreline to shorten the area to bring more water is what somehow looked, it's been so long but maybe why because where they had to build this they had to... when to me looked unnecessary.

If they painted the yellow the same color as the mural it might look better?
Which mural? The art on the side of the building, that's brown..

Other than the very well discussed looks of the building itself I have these comments:
-what will the shoreline look like? Will it retain the white sand and rope fence like the rest of the hotel.
- I really hope these sparsely planted trees around the pool are not indicative of final plantings! I am hoping for much more lush stands of palms and other trees to soften up the grounds.

First kid that slips and falls trying to climb on Moana's raft is going to sue. How could they not know that something like this would be a problem? And aside from that it just looks cheap and like it would be at the All Star resorts. What a shame... This project could have actually been beautiful if they had a better budget and design team...

The pool definitely is a big disappointment if that's it. The one pool that absolutely needs deep, lush, natural aspects and landscaping is the Poly. This feels on par with Riviera at best. More like a generic Marriott somewhere. I truly hope this is only a phase 1, but I don't really see anywhere else for more dense plantings to go... So, I fear this is what we're getting.

Why build a nice pool, when they can just overwhelm the great one next door?

I updated my post with the correct age based on the below attached article. Either way of the boy's age, alligators will always be found in the waterways in and around Disney and having no barrier between them and guests is absolute negligence on Disney's part.
