I have heard rumors about a new park in Mississippi that Disney could be involved with. Does anyone know about this?

To answer your question...Bob Iger has already stated that no new parks will be built in the US for quite some time.

There is supposed to be a new Theme park is Ms, just not Disney. Acording to talk radio Mississippi, it will be a park owned and operated by MGM. Maybe this is part of the reason behind the MGM/Disney split. The Ms Legislature just okayed the sale of the land and design concepts are not complete. I believe that it will be a long time before we see this one complete.

First you have Hard Rock Cafe building their own Theme Park in Myrtle Beach, and now MGM..... There is a reason why Paramount let their five parks go. It is hard to turn a huge profit off the season parks when it wasn't their focus. (not saying they loose money 24/7)

The Disney/MGM split? Since they were never one and the same, there was no split...

Yes, but this was actually a licensing agreement, not a "park contract" or something of the sort. So MGM did not need to "split" from disney to build their own park if they so desired.
