In that video it looks like the have build pretty tall concrete forms down the middle of large trench we saw in the earlier pictures. Can't really guess what that would be for.

Dan

Exactly. Those forms are at least 10 feet deep. Seems too deep for a water feature and too far north to be part of the castle walls. Strange.

After watching the Mousesteps video, I'm left wondering if this could be an extension to the Utilidors?

There was one originally planned before they got rid of all the M&G's...perhaps it is for an extension to the new coaster area?

That would make sense. The wall/pit appears to come right up to the construction wall which is around where the existing Utilidor is. Also if you look at the over the wall picture you can see two low forms and it appears from the video that a concrete slab has been poured between them which would make sense as the floor of a corridor.

Possible, but it's odd that they'd continue it, since getting costumed character CMs to/from the "island" isn't necessary anymore. Yes, CMs operating the attraction will still have to get to/from the attraction, but they wouldn't necessarily be out of place walking between the attraction and a backstage door near Pooh or the BATB area, much the same as Teacups, Dumbo and Carousel CMs do now.

Unless, of course, they're incorporating a permanent Snow White/Dwarf M&G area near the attraction, and want to minimize the walking the characters have to do out in the open. Or, perhaps the costumes for the Mine attraction CMs will be too different from the surrounding area's CMs and they'll want to keep them visually separated from the rest of Fantasyland.

Could even be more basic than that.... maybe a fire exit. The utilidoors are an underground building and it must meet certain National Building Codes. You must never be more than a certain distance from an escape route. Not saying this is true... I have never been anywhere near the utilidors (except over them :D ). Just a thought. We tend to forget the practical things sometimes.

I really think this is being overthought. That is a text book excavation for that depth. They might just be laying a sewer pipe, conduit, anything really, but the size is very misleading. When you dig like that the hole has to be 4 times as wide as it is deep.

Agreed, but there is now a rather large form sitting in it. Looks to be at least 10'.

I don't think this is any extension of the utilidors. If it were it would be directly behind the men's locker room and shower area. Pesonally, I think its a underground drain area for Fantastkabd Expansion. But, who really knows? You would have thought someone would have caught the permit post?!? Oh, well, this will only keep us all intrigued with what it really is going to be used for!
