New Orleans at Disneyland

Just thought about New Orleans Square at Disneyland, and wondered if it is strange to be there now, with the real New Orleans devastated. It would be a good place to collect from tourists for the Red Cross or Salvation Army, also....

Wonder if they will do anything special...

I was in New Orleans Square, DL just a few days before Katrina. I was on vacation, so I had not been watching the news, so I had no idea of what was going on.

I think that is a great idea along with setting something like this up at Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside at WDW.

I was wondering the same thing.

We actually ate breakfast at Port Orleans Riverside the day after it happened... and I felt kinda weird thinking how the place is themed for a place that is now in ruins... prety strange.

Some things are more important than "magic" or "good show".

i agree, i just thought i's mention it

I really think it would be great if they would set up donation sites in New Orlean Square and at the park gates

I think it's a bad idea to collect for ANYthing at the Disney parks.

For those of you who thinks it's a great idea, that's fine...I respect your opinion.

I realize an opposing opinion at first might sound cold or uncaring to you, but I assure you, my personal feelings are quite the opposite.

My point is that if people really CARE about donating to a cause, they should take care of it BEFORE they go on vacation or after they get home. Having collection points throught the Disney parks seems more of an afterthought....even sort of hypocritical if you think about it. Here you are spending hundreds (maybe even thousands) of dollars to take your family to DL or WDW and out of convenience, you toss a dollar or two in a bucket to feel good about your self. Hmmmmm.....

Again, my point is....GIVE WHAT YOU CAN.....FROM YOUR OWN HOUSE AND YOUR OWN HEART. There are lots of opportunities to do so before and after your vacation.

Just a thought.....

:)

they should set up some red cross donation sites, but i don't know if that would ruin the "magic"

The Walt Disney Company donated $2.5 million to aid the relief efforts. This is the extent financially that they will get involved. It is possible that the VoluntEARS will also set up some sort of drive that is separate, but it would not be on Disney property.
