I'm writing a novel about four boys who live in Lake Buena Vista. I hope you like it.
Chapter One: The End and The Beginning
You would probably think this was an ordinary day in an ordinary town. But it wasn’t. It wasn’t an ordinary day, it was June 18, the date every child dreams of, the last day of school. And it wasn’t an ordinary town, it was Lake Buena Vista, Florida, home to Walt Disney World, one of the greatest theme parks in the world.
The clock was at 11:45 AM, which meant that the buses, which usually take tourists from their hotels into the theme parks, were getting ready to take the kids from the school into one of the various areas of the Walt Disney World resort.
The clock hit 11:58 AM, which meant in two more minutes the entire student population would stampede out of Buena Vista Junior High and run to the nearest bus.
The outside of the school was so calm and peaceful, the flowers were blooming, and it was so serene. Then the clock struck 12:00 PM. The flowers didn’t stand a chance. There were kids coming from all directions. They all piled into twelve buses labeled either Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, or Water Parks.
Ah, I was so swallowed up in these kids I almost forgot about the most important kids. Now these kids weren’t ordinary kids, they were very special. Okay, now back to the story.
“It’s about time you guys got here. I’ve had enough patience to open up my own clinic,” said Jeffrey Weaver. Now Jeffrey was a good leader, he knew how to handle himself and his friends in a situation.
“Well, it’s not easy when you have to talk your way out of going into a summer program for youth,” said Jeffrey’s friend, Chris Baker. Well, Chris is a very good talker, he knows how to sneak his way in and out of places and situations. And he always, and I mean always, has his cell phone on hand.
“Whoa, wait up for us,” said another of Jeffrey’s friend, Frank Adams. Now Frank was an exceptionally good student, and he knew everything about Walt Disney World.
“Yeah, could you just try?” said Chris’s third friend, Dave Andrews. Dave was a big, strong boy, and he could beat up anyone he wanted. But he learned the ways of Mahatma Ghandi and believed in peaceful arguement resolution. But he used his strength when he needed to.
Now, their parents all worked in the parks, so they visited very, very, like every day, frequently. Now, you’d think that all the kids would hit the parks to kick off the summer, but not these kids. They went to either see a movie or shop at Downtown Disney, cool off at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, or just walked home. But not our boys. Jeffrey’s motto in life is: “Thousands of people are fortunate to visit Walt Disney World once or twice in their lifetime, I’m fortunate to visit it once or twice in a day. So use the privilege, don’t abuse the privilege.”
So, the time came to decide which theme park to go to. They took a vote and they decided to go to the Disney-MGM Studios. So Chris whipped out his cell phone and Jeffrey and Frank called their parents and of course, they said yes. Then came Dave’s parents. They said yes, but they had a nice conversation.
“Yeah mom, I’ll be home by dinner.”
“Dave, tell your mom you’ve gotta go,” said Jeffrey
“In a second, Jeff. My day was fine, mom.”
“Tell your mom you really have to go.”
“Okay. Mom, I gotta go. Yeah, I love you too. Bye. Now why did you make me hang up?”
“Well, if you really must know, THE BUS DOORS ARE CLOSING AND WE’RE NOT ON!”
Any comments? Questions?
