New Muppet Movie

Sorry did a quick search, and didn't find this http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/The_Muppets_(2011) I'll tell you, I'm a big Muppet fan, and I thought this was going to be the movie that put the Muppets back in the spotlight, but I really doubt it now. The plot seems a bit recycled, and the voices ...... don't even get me started on them. I hope this turns out to be a great movie, but that preview does not look to special to me

:hammer: You know what..... I just watched that clip about an hour ago ( In a real bad mood I must say). I thought it looked so-so, almost bad. I had asked my wife come watch it with me before I saw it, and she did not want to at the time  ( I told her, it comes out on Nov 23rd so we are gonna have to go see it). After I posted this, I MADE her come down , and watch it (now my wife is not a Muppet fan at all). As we watched the preview again, I thought , this does not look too bad. When it was over (the whole 2min) my wife was like, we can go see that... it looks a lot better than I thought it would be. SO .................. GO MUPPETS..... Hope it's a classic

The reviews have been phenomenal from the preview screenings.

The only negatives I've heard is that the end is a little lackluster (which they'll probably change since it seems to be a consensus, and they have time).

Btw, from what I've heard, there's almost a full Muppet Show in the middle of the movie.

To make this thread actually tie into the WDW forum that it's in, I always thought it would be amazingly cool if MuppetVision 3d were actually as though you were in the audience for a real Muppet Show - from beginning to end (but it would still be a 3d movie). It would be as if you've actually stepped into the Muppet Theater to see a real filming of the Muppet Show in person.

Especially with the new technology of Star Tours, you could have different segments of the show, so people wouldn't see the same show twice. You could literally have hundreds of scenarios. It would work perfectly in 3d.

If people are concerned about the current MV 3d going away (since it was Jim Henson's last production), they could easily still show it during a certain time each day (like 4 - 6 pm). The technology of the two shows would be exactly the same, so they could be completely interchangeable.

I can't wait for this movie to come out! My husband and I have been talking about going to see it since we saw the preview in the theaters. It's about time they did something with the Muppets again.

I know there are a lot of people out there interested in seeing how this pans out and what the next move will be for the franchise. The covers of Muppets songs by current artists that came out a couple of months ago was pretty good too and seemed to have done pretty well, so one can hope this sparks the return of the Muppets!

I just don't think the Muppets have mass appeal anymore unfortunately. People have forgotten what the original Muppets were about, and only remember the corny movies from the 90s. I think this movie will be ok, but I don't think it's going to be a blockbuster smash. I'm not going to see it in theaters anyway...will wait for the BluRay. I hope I'm wrong, but I think the Muppets are a dying franchise. Disney should have tried to resurrect this one years ago.

I still don't think Miss Piggy looks as cute as she used to, and I still don't get why. The people in charge of creating all of the puppets have got great examples to look back on. It's not like they're working from scratch. I saw a clip on youtube the other day from the Muppet Show where Kermit and Miss Piggy are in her dressing room, and she looks amazing. I just don't get it...

Just wanted to add that I just saw a trailer for the movie Arthur Christmas, and at first it looks like a total Prep and Landing ripoff. But as it went on it looked fantastic. Arthur comes out the same day as the Muppets, and I think it's serious competition. I really wonder how well the Muppet movie is going to do now. And if the movie doesn't do well, what then? What will Disney do with the Muppets?

Saw previews for the Muppet movie when we went to see the Lion King 3D last week and I thought it looks really good. We (myself, my mother and my sister) are all HUGE Muppet fans. One of my favorite cartoons from when I was little was the Muppet Babies. Personally, I can't wait to see it!! :)

Yup, not sure how anyone could deny their appeal.

My 4 year old niece has become obsessed with Miss Piggy just by seeing her in commercials on the Disney Channel.

because people nowadays want thrills and the latest CGI and special effects and aren't as interested in puppets. They also remember the last 4 or 5 Muppet films and how they were cheesy borderline lame. Lastly they've become much like the Fab 5 have become...children focused because of what the last group of movies did the franchise. I think the whole Muppet franchise will now miss the mark with the majority of the young adult demographic either because it seems too "Kiddie" or too "old fashioned", and that's Disney's fault. I don't deny they have a cult following, but I really don't think the mass appeal will be there when this movie hits the theaters.

I don't agree. When I saw Green Lantern there was a Muppets trailer attached, and the majority of the full theater of comic book geeks responded well to it.

They're casting a wide net with advertising, and hitting on all cylinders on that front, and it's by far the biggest release in the month it comes out.

I think the movie will be a success, possibly a big one.

Who is "they"? The Muppet movies I remember most are "Take Manhattan" and "Christmas Carol." Both of those films are still highly regarded by my 20 something peers.

The young demographic or "youtube generation" sure seemed to enjoy the viral videos.
