New monorail handrail configuration trial

"Disney is planning on testing a new handrail configuration on Monorail Lime during the next few weeks. The center stanchion has been removed from all of the cars and replaced with 4 stand-alone poles. There is going to be a 2 week trial where Lime will be put on the Magic Kingdom Express Beam to test the efficiency of this system. If it proves successful, Disney is looking to implement it on all 12 of the trains. "

Does that mean that Lime will be put on the beams, or does that mean that the monorail colored lime will be on put on the track? I think it means the latter...LOL

I'm sorry I think I get it now forget I asked...

The seating configuration in those monorails really sucks. I kind of understand their resoning, but I would really much rather have edge seating with more standing room.

The reason for not adding more seats is simple: would increase the amount of time for load and unload, thus slowing everything down.

This should raise the capacity to the therotical capacity of the M VI since it has been brought down by strollers and those of us who are rather spherical .

There has been a delay in rolling Lime out, but it will get out here soon enough.

Part of the reasoning behind this adjustment is so double wide strollers can fit anywhere, not just in the handicapped stalls. There are only three of those.

Personally I'd like to see some investment so folks bound in wheelchairs don't need ramps. Less ramps=less staff=savings for Disney?

Staff will have to adjust to this. "when is lime coming around?" "which train again?" "after red?" lol. Longer load and unload times because more people have to get on or off a train doesn't necessarily add up to efficiency.

At least I'll get to see them when I am there. I often thought how funny the configuration looks and it seems that more seats could have been added in each car. But then it wouldn't be practical for wheelchairs and strollers.
