New Mickey Mouse shorts

Not a fan.. GREATLY preferred Mickey Mouse Works/House of Mouse over this. I’ll still never understand the decision not to continue that before they went and screwed themselves over after by making Mickey a strictly preschool property for nearly a decade with Clubhouse.

All they needed to do was better market the Mouse Works & House of Mouse cartoons... but yeah, oh well.
I love the new shorts (especially the retool on Disney+) since they went back to Mickey's mischevious roots from the late 1920s and early 1930s until the Hays Code came in.

They even did it with Figment in the late 80s with the educational films...Making him not as mischievous but, more educational

While I understand that. The difference there was Figment was still fully available & appearing in his original attraction, ImageWorks activities, and merchandise even with these videos released. (Not to mention these were available only in the elementary school system to rent at the time) I have no issue with educational spin off videos being made. Same can be said with Mickey. My issue with what happened with Mickey however was. for the time being, you couldn’t find House of Mouse/Mouse Works or the other classic shorts anywhere on tv or in merchandise.. and Mickey’s general public identity soon became strictly known for the preschool show for nearly an entire decade/generation of kids. And I feel that did a lot of damage to modern/contemporary Mickey’s reputation.

Just got done watching the latest shorts with one of them featuring Ursula. Really loved "The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse" since they're not only longer compared to the 2013 shorts. But they actually toned down the "grossout elements" which started occuring in the later shorts beginning in 2018.

Just watched the remaining shorts to finish out this “season”. The last short is probably one of the best ones, lots of good gags in there. If you were on the fence and have Disney + definitely give that one a watch. Excited for the next season, I enjoyed all of them.

All I can say to that is Thank God. My hope is after this they go back to a more balanced, all age appealing approach ala Get a Horse, Epic Mickey, maybe something based off the old comics, and Mickey Mouse Works/House of Mouse and less of the bipolar ( strict preschool, no personality/soul OR strictly edgy, masquerading as the classic shorts) approaches.

Come on man, not all the shorts were bad. A couple of the Rudish shorts are actually very heartfelt and sweet (especially "Feed the Birds", "Tokyo Go" and "Carried Away"). If anything, it's one of the very times Disney acknowledges Tom Oreb's design of Mickey Mouse which wouldn't come to light until 2013 (notably "Entombed" and "Steamboat Silly").

I always saw Runaway Railway as the perfect finale since it incorporates the entire cast (they love neglecting Pluto for some reason) and is full of good music.
Yea, though I wish they made something original for Vacation Fun to go along with it. Instead, it is just a montage. Still, a great series of cartoons (and actually a pretty good number, even if I wish they made more). Original “Mickey Mouse Cartoons” (2013-2019) all felt unique and well-thought out, but the Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse was pretty good too.

So, how much longer will Runaway Railway be around now as they confirmed this version of Mickey is now officially dead...
Though a modern interpretation, it certainly feels like it’ll stand the test of time. Still, the Chinese Theater might become some sort of rolling ride (changing every decade or so). Runaway Railway incorporates a design of old and classic meets new(er). It’s definitely new, but it’s not the type of new that becomes dated 5 years later.

The ride might need slight technological advancements with the projector quality and what not, but I don’t see it having any major issues for quite some time.

And this is why Walt HATED this design and was never used again...
