hello,

i'm new to this board. just joined this morning.

we are a family of four. two adults, two daughters, ages 8 and 10. we are taking our first trip to disney world in early december. a very exciting time for us.

the kids know we are going - i tried my best to keep it a surprise but i was just bursting, haha.

i know very little about disney, having never been there myself. my husband went as a preteen but has next to no memories of it. sadly! i hope my children make lasting memories that they'll carry with them forever!

Welcome! Early Dec will be a great time to go with low crowds! Are you going to Mickeys Christmas Party? The Christmas Parade is awesome and the only way to see it is at the party at that time of year. I've found lots of help on these boards so be sure to ask away!

Welcome to the boards! We went last year in early December and it was our favorite trip yet to Disney. Hope you and your family have a magical trip!

Welcome! The boards will help you get even more excited for your trip! Early December is one of my favorites times to visit. The parks will be decorated for the holidays and crowds will be pretty manageable. Have so much fun, and post a trip report when you get back!! :)

Welcome! Since you're "new" to Disney World, I recommend getting a good planning guide if you haven't already done so (or subscribing to touringplans, the website affiliated with the Unofficial Guide to WDW book, or simply visiting sites like Dad's Guide to WDW or easy wdw or yourfirstvisit, which offer useful tips and tricks). That should give you a good idea of what to prioritize in your touring.

(Since your trip is just a few weeks out, if you haven't already done so you should make your advanced dining reservations ("ADRs") and if you are eligible, Fastpass+ ("Fastpass plus," WDW's online fastpass reservation system)).

Welcome. Enjoy your trip.

Early December is frequently when they tape the Christmas at WDW "Parade" at the Magic Kingdom (MK), so this may be an unusually busy and inconvenient day or two to be in that park, unless that is your plan.

If you are staying in an official WDW-owned resort (aka "on property"), you may have received a mailing about using a Disney website to join the "test" of the Fastpass Plus (FP+) and MagicBands.

The FP+ is a limited ride reservation system that is supplanting the older paper Fastpass system that is used to pre-arrange times when your family plans on riding an attraction. There are numerous plus and minus threads about FP+.

MagicBands are a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) wristband that is expected to supplant the Key to the World (KTTW) plastic credit card type pass that had been used as all or some of the following: admission tickets to the park, key to your resort room, and charging privileges at stores and restaurants owned/operated by WDW. There are also numerous plus and minus threads about MagicBands.

Welcome!!! We picked early December for our girls' first trip. It's so much fun to see the parks and resorts decked out for the holidays. I think there are a million and one tips we could all give, but if you have ?s- definitely ask :) Have a wonderful trip!
