there's actually several trees and the photos really don't do it any justice. It's actually looking really nice back there. Once it is finally done I can see them opening it up during the day when it's busy.
They were contemplating doing exactly that during the Easter/Spring Break period, but it never got to the point during the day where they felt it needed to be opened. Management actually had people staffed for it everyday for two weeks, but never opened it.

Now there's some Disney Magic for ya. Impressive.

Well, it was never going to impress you anyway. Why should a back alley pathway that serves to herd guests be some amazing work of art? Would I prefer and love the arcade instead? Of course I would but sometimes you have to pick the battles. Not everything's as horrible as you seem to think it is or want it to be.

And no, I'm not a rose colored pixie duster.

Did you not see the fantastic review of The Boathouse I gave last week?

This looks lame. And after they finish, it will most likely be open all the time and probably have a smoking section back there. If they are allowing guest access, EVER! Then it is on stage. Period. No if, ands, or buts. And as such should be treated as such. There is no, "well it's just a.......". That acknowledges it's substandard quality and excuses the sub-par execution.

I don't give two flips about an arcade. What I am concerned about is WDW's modern definition of "show quality".

When it comes to a bypass that has the sole purpose of keeping feet moving, wheels rolling and eyes straight ahead so minimal collisions occur, you can't put in too much for show otherwise the rubberneckers and those who stop in their lane to "ooo-ahh-ohhh" will be causing accidents.

It would be neat if they put up some fale windows, doors, fire escapes, landings, ads and such on the back of those buildings to help keep the illusion of a real street. It would go a long way to help the theme, while not costing as much as an arcade.
Showmanship. Not simply tolerable functionality. I don't pay $100/day for tolerable functionality.

You buy separate 1 day tickets at $100 a pop every time you go? :D
I thought I said I DON'T pay $100/day for tolerable functionalality.

I'm a local and I haven't paid to get into any WDW park since I let my AP expire in 2010. Because tolerable functionality is where I think WDW, as a whole, is at right now.

o_O Are you saying it's been 5 years since you've stepped foot into MK, or any Disney park? How do you know it's tolerably functional if you haven't seen it first hand? In half a decade, some things have changed. We know reports and stories from others emphasize the positive/negatives so it's hard to go off of those.

He gets in with CM maingates, so he goes free.

Personally, I feel like freeloaders should have no say in what you think is worth your money if you aren't paying it to begin with.

I think we WDWMagic needs to head in there at night with their proper fancy cameras and get us some high quality shots. It's looking better than what I was expecting, but I'd still love to see some higher quality shots.

The mesh detail on front of the wall with the goose neck lamps and advertisements looks quite nice. I can only guess they're going to grow some vines, etc... on the mesh part. That could look really cool. And trees! Did I mention trees?

As much as I do agree that it should it look like the back of the buildings, I believe that would be a problem, because A) they are facades covering a show building, and from what I can tell the behinds are used for maitmence and stuff, so you'd have to also redo the entrances and stuff

The bypass is open nightly (as long as the park isn't dead) for 3 hours, starting one hour before the first and going up until one hour after Wishes.

The usual hours are 8-11, but it varies depending on how busy the park is. If you don't want to be rushed through (as I have worked the area in the past), go as close to opening as you can. Once the first parade ends, and then a small CTM exit and a huge wave of Wishes crowds for about 15 minutes, stopping is literally NOT an option during those times. The bypass isn't meant as a viewing area, a smoking area or a place to congregate. They want people moving. We are actually told for people NOT to smoke back there.

Actually, I do get in for free, but it is for things like media night at MNSSHP, MVMCP, or just covering stuff like the Gov. speaking at Epcot.
The last time I was in the MK was just before Christmas. I was in Epcot in Feb. I haven't been to DHS since the F! bench announcement. It's probably been 2 years since I was at DAK.
