Enchantment
A Celebration of 40 Magical Years
Welcome to the Magic Kingdom’s 40th Anniversary Parade, a brand new cavalcade of your favourite characters on stunning floats set to some amazing music. Well, that’s the idea, anyway. The main hope would be to inject some colour back into the tired afternoon parade at the park currently.
The Music: Beginning with a swirling chord, played by an orchestra and growing into a fanfare, based on the lyrics ‘story book ending, Fairytales coming true’ – from Disney’s Enchanted (This is the ‘main theme’ of the parade). Then it all calms down for the introduction: ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, in 1971, this magical place opened and children of all ages lived their dreams. Today, as part of our 40th anniversary, we ask you to celebrate the place where Memories are born, Dreams live, laughter is echoed and friendship is shared, across seven magical lands. We now invite you to celebrate with us as we proudly present our Enchantment! Thank you. And welcome to the Magic Kingdom!’
The music builds and we hear the ‘welcome, welcome, welcome...’ of the Main Street USA Medley, taking us into...
Opening Window: Main Street USA
Residents of Town Square and Main Street stroll down the parade route, greeting guests and dancing to music comprised of the Welcome Medley, sounds form the Railroad and a nod to MSEP mixed into the music. Each cast member would have a different role to play: sketch artist, news paper seller, etc.
We then see our first float, a steam train similar to that of MSEP, but decorated/painted like those on the railroad. On board, we see Mickey & Minnie, Donald and Goofy, all greeting guests. The parades title would also be incorporated onto the float somehow.
Behind this float, we now begin to change lands as some very well dressed penguins stroll up the parade route...
Fantasy
Behind the penguins, we see Mary Poppins and Bert, who are dressed in their white dress & hat and pin-stripe suite respectively. They interact with guests and dance along to the music.
Behind them, a certain Rabbit is very late and is pursued by a rather angry looking Queen, as the second float is approaching. Much like the Princess Garden seen in Jubilation, this float is made up of inter-twining bushes and arches, however... these bushes contain roses! In amongst the greenery, we have some favourite characters who feature in Fantasyland, such as Alice & The Mad Hatter, who take the speaking roles in this section; as well as Merlin, with the sword in the stone; Winnie The Pooh, along with his friends. Small details such as Dumbo flying above the ‘garden’ add to the float. Music would comprise of music from Alice In Wonderland, Winnie The Pooh & Mary Poppins.
Coming along behind this float, Pinocchio leads us into the next phase of our parade, guiding along some very lost little boys, and...
Adventure
awaits them. Because coming up behind the Lost Boys, are Peter Pan and Wendy on a Pirate ship, which is surrounded by colourful water and greenery. Hook threatens to make Peter walk the plank, and they are sword fighting along the route, as Peter teases his old foe.
The ship merges into further greenery, and we go deep into the undergrowth and find Pocahontas, who is surrounded by her forest friends. The Sprite, from Fantasia, also features, cleverly woven into the ‘roof’ of the float...
