New news, everyone.

The Haunted Mansion recently recieved a new load spiel, which is heard before you board the doom buggies. It goes like this:

"And now, a carriage approaches to take you into the boundless realm of the supernatural. Once onboard, remain safely seated with your hands, arms, feet and legs inside and watch your children, please." (Spanish safety spiel follows.)

I noticed this on Friday when we rode but I didn't make out the words because the people in the queue were being noisy. I prefered it the old way, too.

I'm afraid that despite the number of times I've been on HM before the latest rehab I can't remember what the spiel was beforehand, can anyone enlighten me please :)

I liked the old way for all of the loading stuff but it seems that people can’t be trusted to engage in common sense anymore.

wut was it before. i dont think i remember it. the only think i remeber is the weird guys that always scared my sister and they are very scary looking

Is this by chance the same spiel they added over at Disneyland, recorded by a different guy who sounds somewhat like Frees? It has this creepy guy afterward who does the Spanish warning, ending with a creepy "...y ahora...¡PREPARECE!"

:lookaroun If I remember-- The mind is fading  Didn't we go for our ride in the DOOMBUGGY'S ????? I just went last week and noticed the loading announcement seemed a litle shorter-and had a Spanish one-- WHY???? I will NOT learn Spanish!! ( I understand it at Disney, But)

I get tired of it being forced on me-- Sorry --- Seems everywhere I go lately, whether it is looking for a job , or a store they look at you like WHY don't you speak Spanish??" BECAUSE" this is the USA and our language is ENGLISH!!! :lookaroun  Sorry again-- It has been one of those days:(

Back to the greeting-- Is that why it was so short??? Just sounded like an announcement-- Not the old familiar scary greeting we used to have-- Bring back the scary one---:D

I don't remember what the old speil was, but i do remember that the guy said "do not lower the safety bar please, i will lower it for you." is that still in it? That line is in the Disney Techno Mix song!

That's right, I remember it now - now I know what it was, it seems stupid that I forgot it :)

Congrats on the 200th Post BTW :)

From what I can remember

Near as I can recall, (and a mind is a terrible thing)

"welcome foolish mortals, I am you host, your ghost host, please sit well back, do not pull on the safety bar *I* will lower it for you.... [possibly sit back again]

Always liked the guys voice, there were several of these voices that were just perfect for the rides. (Like the monorail)

I guess after hearing them for 20+ years, once they were replaced, it left a hole in the experience that I had come to know/expect and like a heck of a lot.

So the whole, I will lower it for you, speil is gone?? I refuse to believe it. I at least hope the voice is similar. As long as they didn't replace it with that annoying girl at the end of sse inviting you to the new global neighborhood... (shivers at the thought) :brick:

I've not gone on the ride since it was rehabbed, but according to the first post it says the new speil was before you board the ride, and the "do not lower the safety bar please, i will lower it for you" line is when you are actualy on the ride, so going by what was said in the first post, the safety bar line should still be in.

I don't know if this has been talked about before, but the load spiel at Big Thunder Mountain has changed too. We really miss the old spiels on both of these rides!!!

I believe everyone is saying that this speil is BEFORE you get into your doombuggy. Therefore, the "I will lower it for you" still remains. No doubt, the speil was changed for insurance reasons, and as Mr. Promey said, common sense no longer has a place in our society.

It actually has to say watch your children? Well, of course it does. Otherwise, kids would be voluntarily leaping in between the cars and breaking their necks.

The fact that it tells you to watch your hands, arms and legs is even more ridiculous. Ya know, I often go wandering around the city just flailing my arms carelessly and kicking my feet out to the sides. You'd better believe I carry this habit with me to WDW. It sure is a good they they tell me to be careful when I'm inside the Haunted Mansion.

And if they wanted to add something that would detract from the great theming, they did the right thing by adding the spanish speil. Arrrrgh. It never ends.........

The old way used to be.

"And now, a carraige approaches to carry you into the boudless realm of the spirit world. Take your "loved" ones by the hand please, and kindly watch your step.

Very well said, Zac. It's really a pity that, in the 21st Century, with all the technology available and the wonders the world seem to produce every single day, we still have to remind people not to jump out of a moving vehicle while on a theme park or they may get hurt...

I always liked it when the CM would say after the spiel would tell you to watch your kids, like we aren't going to, the CM would say and make sure you take him with you when you exit the vehicle. I would always giggle and so would the kids. The CM's can surely make your day in the park, that's for sure.
