New Land

My brother has the Book "Married to the Mouse" and he showed me a part where there is land in the Magic Kingdom, that Walt Disney World owns, behind Space Mountain and behind all of Fantasy land...So I was wondering, if Disney every decided to build on to the park, what lands or rides do you think they will build?

There was a "Villian Land" rumor...

But I would hope that the area behind It's a Small World will be called "Walt Land" or something - and feature the closed classic attractions that Walt made...maybe...:D

But there is nothing confirmed for these areas...

grizzlyhall,
Are you referring to Mission: Space? How do you know that it is not going to be outstanding? I know that a lot of people like the classic attractions, but I thought that Walt said that Disneyland will always be evolving. I think that the same would hold true for WDW. How could it get better and keep evolving if they never added anything new to the existing lands?

I'm pretty sure he's refering to that, TT, and JII. But what Gman here is saying that rather than replacing great rides that they add rides in diferent spots..instead Disney knocks down the good one to make way for new ones.

I'd rather see a land with something new. Seems very un-Disney to rebuild old attractions. Goes against the whole change and advancement idea...although I would love to see Journey into Imagination return, I know it never will.

When i was on the keys to the kingdom tour several years ago, i struck up a conversation with the tour guide re: the amount of land owned by disney in that area vs. the amount of land currently used for guests (parks, resorts, shopping, etc.) I asked about it because ages and ages ago, my dad worked for one of the construction companies that started some of the foundation work for the MK and the original resorts and he told me something about the huge amount of land purchased (and how cheaply too). The guide verified that as far as he knew, the currently used land (including AK which was about to open..so i guess it was 98?) was <1/3 the total land owned, another 1/3 was devoted to preservation and wouldn't be touched but the remaining 1/3 would be developed for parks, etc...

Leaves alot of room for further development...with that in mind, do you think they'll bring back Mr. Toad?:drevil:

Toad? Not in its original form. I've never seen disney in the business of removing attractions and then rebuilding them. Perhaps Toad will return somewhere else...I'd like to see both Icabod and Toad...personally.

There is some land around MK available for park expansion but not as much as you may think. Much of the land around MK is being utilized for support structures (motor pool, maintenence, pyro, parade, etc) Go to the main page and click on "WDW from Space" for a view of these areas.

There is plenty of land availble for future parks and resorts even with a considerable amount being put asisde for conservation (the Walker Ranch is a big part of the conserved area).

It is money, not land availability that will dictate future expansion.

There should be a villian land. Really would add something Magical to the MK. Since villians have become popular lately...it could work very well.

I think that a Villians Theme would fit much better in some sort of Roller Coaster park...just seems fitting that villians would cause such head throbbing, whiplashing, jerky movements. I could see if Disney does decide to build Coaster Kingdom(I heard that somewhere) that they will dedicate one full land to the villians.

The Kingdom could use a nice big coaster. I see it fitting in with the villians theme very well. The only park I don't see with a big E-Ticket loopy coster is Epcot. Just doesn't seem to fit.
