New Kilimanjaro FASTPASS tickets

They are working wonderfully for both guests and Cast Members. I'm a big fan of these new passes, and the new computer system that is running them... Makes things much easier/efficient for us in all aspects.

It's odd how they decided to test it at Kilimanjaro Safaris.

No it's not... Kilimanjaro Safaris was the first to offer Fastpass way back in the day. We were the origional "test" so it's only fair that the oldest machines are the first to be upgraded.

random question

what happens if by some reason you get caught behind a mass of people from a show that just let out, and your 5 minutes late to your fastpass, is it totally lost then? that doesnt sound fair....

Officially you would be out of luck however this is one of those rules that are deliberately not enforced. You can't get in even 1 minute early for a fastpass but you can routinely get in after it expires. The only common exception to this bending of the rule would be Soarin.

I had no problem getting in after some wait time expirations for fast passes ... the person at the FastPass entrance checks it and never even said anything to me. Then the person who COLLECTS them usually won't even look at them, so ... lol. I wouldn't worry too much, I don't think they're going to give you a hard time about it, as things happen.

Just went to ebay to check out this thread and OP was right that people are selling the Attraction Re-entry passes on ebay. I see that someone is dumb enough to pay over 100 bucks for 6 of these single entry passes. That means that a family of 3 could ride 2 extra rides for $100??? I don't think so.

Looked at some closed auctions and these things seem to sell for about $10-30 a piece!

Here's what it says, "You are bidding on a white envelope and as a free gift you receive 2 fast pass tickets for Disney World Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL. For up to 6 riders skip the line!"

These guys who are bidding must NEVER have been to DW before.

I have 3 left over rider switch tickets from last trip. Space, thunder, splash. We put them in the kids memory books as we didn't get to use them. Never thought there would be a black market for them! ROFL

I still have my attraction re-entry pass I got for taking part in one of the focus groups for MILF. I'm not trading that in since it has a bit of sentimental (albeit corny) value to me.

It just cracks me up because all you need to do to get a Rider Switch is to ask. They are FREE if you have someone that won't ride and needs someone to stay with them. I have a little one, so we do it often. I've also seen folks with a person that was wheelchair bound and couldn't ride use them as well.

I don't think so.

I'm pretty sure it was either Rockin' Roller Coaster or It's Tough to be a Bug that first offered Fast Passes.

Kilimanjoaro Safaris used it's two sides of the line for a while before splitting them up between Stand-By and Fast Pass.

Don't the new passes need new machines? It seems odd why Disney would replace all of the machines that work with new ones.

I was part of the first Fastpass tests (before there were kiosks) where they were just handing out Fastpasses. This was in February of 1999--RnRC wasn't even open yet. I received the FPes at what was then Countdown to Extinction.

No.... Seriously. We were part of the origional, first-ever Fastpass test. If you don't believe me you can read up on it for yourself right here on the main wdwmagic page:

FASTPASS was first rolled out in July at Kilimanjaro Safaris, Countdown to Extinction and Kali River Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Yup, new machines and trust me they are a very welcome addition. Like I said, these were some of the oldest Fastpass machines on property, and while they might have seemed to still be working fine to the average guest... the machines were getting old and extremely worn-out from such heavy usage over all of these years. These new machines are already much more dependable, efficient, and the technology that is running them is much (MUCH) more advanced than that of the old system. :D

Yes, those were the first attractions to receive FP, but that link is talking about the July premiere of the FP kiosks. As I said previously, there were tests before this--I received my first Fastpass directly from CMs at Countdown to Extinction in February 1999.

I have no reason to doubt you about pre-fastpass machine tests... But that's not what I'm talking about here.

I'm simply saying that Kilimanjaro Safaris was one of the origional, first-ever attractions to have Fastpass machines (Meaning... Out of all the Fastpass machines on property, Kilimanjaro Safaris had some of the absolute oldest.)

(This was the point of linking that wdwmagic article that I linked/quoted.)

This was in response to the orgional question raised by another poster... Why Kilimanjaro Safaris would be the first attraction to roll-out these new Disneyland-style passes.

My argument (once again) was that since (as previously stated) Kilimanjaro Safaris had some of the oldest machines on property... it only makes sense to upgrade them first since they have been through the most wear-and-tear and would benefit the most from an upgrade.

Haha... Sorry, but I don't see how I could have made that ANY more clear! (After the first two times, for that matter.)

Almost like a:
"I don't think you understand, there's a SQUIRREL in that STROLLER!"

Anyway, yeah I'm sure you guys had fun this morning. Those things always happen to fall on days that I'm out of town, go figure. I think they're trying to tell me something...

I was just giving you a hard time about saying KS was the first attraction to use FP...

It was more fun than a squirrel with a bag of Funyuns.
