New job....first day

After training classes & such, I finally actually started one of my new jobs (driving for Mears) last night. (For those who don't know, the other job is at MK) What a night! I only work WDW property, so I know it pretty well, feel safe & get to hang out & watch fireworks & such from the cabstands. I was a nervous wreck when I first got there, but the other drivers calmed me down really quickly. I'm telling ya, the night shift drivers are AWESOME! I work from around 5pm-5am, so it's a grueling shift. Everyone was great about giving me pointers on where to be & when. I didn't get anyone lost in the middle of nowhere, either. I messed up a teeny bit once, but the people in the car felt bad for it being my first night & they just tipped me better. It wasn't a big screw up anyway, so I was relieved.

Down times were pretty cool, just hanging around & chatting with everyone, waiting on parks to close & such. The families I picked up were so appreciative of the stickers I gave the kids & they also loved the fact that I had some info & tips for them on Disney parks. I picked up a whole mess of foreigners from Downtown Disney that were quite drunk (at 2AM), but they were amusing as hell, so I couldn't complain. All in all, I had fun. This should be quite an interesting job! LOL

For those of you wanting to use the taxis here, even if I'm not working on the days you need, I'd be happy to recommend drivers. Getting taxis here is a hit or miss thing & it would be nice to help these guys get business while assuring you that you're dealing with a competent, safe, friendly driver, too. Just lemme know!

I had to leave here yesterday at 3:30 PM to get to work & just got home at 7AM (I hate the bus system), so I am COMPLETELY beat. I am going to bed now. Fortunately, they put me on a schedule that gives me the next 2 days off, so I can recuperate before jumping in for 5 days straight. WOOHOO!

:snore:

I know that people who were here for 9/11 were turning to cabs like crazy to get home when flights were suspended. Over 15 of our drivers ended up taking people to New York. They say that once every 2 weeks or so, someone will end up on a "trip". I could only wish! That would be awesome! Not just the $, but the reason for a road trip!

We're given flat rate guides/suggestions to every major metropolitan area in the US. We can tinker with that however we choose. I could be inclined to do so, for a tour of Boston! :D

*yawns and waves at everyone* You need someone to tell you they want to be driven to Cali *giggles*. LMAO.. Okay i'm delusional today.. and no one to entertain me before my class... maybe I should sleep... I really KNOW I need food in my stomach.. *wonders if she should just go and buy food so she doesn't have to make anything*

I would have to find a millionaire to want to go to Cali. That car is a major gas pig. We have to refill the gas tank when we drop off the car & pay for that as well. I was all excited last night because I had only used just less than a half tank of gas. It STILL cost me $12 to fill up. EGADS!

I still had such a great time. Even when I called a bit ago to set up my shift assignment, the ops manager was so very cool with me. They really do look out for the girls there. Everyone is super nice. Now, if I could just get my BIG fare, I'd be happy. EVery driver has at least a few stories of when they just hit gold with a fare. It's amazing how generous some people can be & some of these tales are shocking!

I made a boo boo the other day. I was driving a family from Epcot to French Quarter... and ended up turning into Old Key West instead... Whoops! They got a good laugh out of it, and ended up thanking me for the lil "tour"... At least with a cab, you can turn around in more normal areas... me and my 40' bus, it's not that easy! :hammer:

Thank goodness for that! I could never maneuver around those busses! Thankfully, a pleasant WDW security guard gave me a little assist. LOL I don't even know where it was I ended up, but at least I didn't end up off property, so I guess I could've done worse.

Icks!!! Hmm not millionaire .. yet.. or maybe I should just marry one? ;). Okay delusional migrainish mood but sensitive to light not sound this time.. though it's making me sick to my stomach and not feel good .. which is bad.. so as soon as the class I have tonight is over i'm going to try to relax... I don't care what I have to resort to accomplish that relaxation!!! (if anyone has a good way to relax PLEASE share it with me cause I don't know how to relax very well and if I do tonight what I did last night I won't relax at all).

ANYWAYS.. when do you have Traditions Dawn? Do you know where (attraction) in MK yet?
