New HKDL Park Pictures

Am I the only one who feels that the surrounding mountains really detract from the castle's power as a 'weenie' in this park? While I realize it's impractical, I'd expect to see a magical castle sitting atop the mountains, not nestled in a valley between them.

I actually think the moutains behind it makes it even more charming. Sleeping Beauty castle was not made to awe and intimidate the way Cinderella Castle and Le Chateu de la belle au bois dormant is.

Agreed. I think it looks quite charming.

Yes, I'm with the "charming group" as far as the mountains in the background. I don't think they're going to have a problem filling this park with people. I wonder if maybe they were frightened off by what happened with DLP and they started small as a result.

I'm sure that is exactly the case. But let's not forget to factor in the Pressler factor.
Lots of stores, no attractions.

When I heard they were building a Disneyland in Hong Kong, I was a little skeptical. But these pictures give me a little more hope. Their Tomorrowland is really cool, and their Adventureland looks neat also. I've heard that HM will be placed in Adventureland in HK. Is this true?

Well that's the rumour, A Jungle Haunted Mansion.
I think it would be really cool. An old colonial mansion (think of the old Adventure's Club in DLP's Adventureland) but more run down.
Having said all of that, keep in mind this is an internet rumour and one that was started over a year ago by someone who has been wrong in the past.

you mean Jim Hill?
No it wasn't Jim Hill or Al Lutz. This person just writes for other sites.
I'm not going to bother saying who it is, becuase I do like this person's writing and I'm not going to get into that whole "Oh they just make things up" bashing.
How do I know that they were not fed wrong information or things have changed? I have no contacts in Disney to confirm the rumours.
I like reading Hill, Al and this person's articles. I love rumours and stories. Even if the info is wrong it's still a good read. :D

So wait, is the park open already, or are they just previewing stuff for the press or something?
Judging from some photos in Adventureland, I have a strong feeling the Tiki Room may get there someday.
Tommorowland looks very nice as does the new Philharmagic theater.
My opinion is changing on the little park. It's very nice, but really needs more attractions to help it along.

From what I understand Media & VIPs.
You are absolutely right about the Tiki Romm. It would be a very good fit.

I think the park is going to end up very popular, and we Americans should be jealous of the cool new attractions they are getting/already have, and the amazing theming and detail in the park.

I found some pics of Colonial Mansions, picture them run down and we might have a Haunted Mansion!

My favorite- http://www.tomcockrem.com/library/asia/cambodia/colonialphnompenh/images/french%20colonial%20mansion.jpg

A Southern plantation home- http://exhibits.slpl.lib.mo.us/scanned/deriv2/LPE02089.jpg

Number one for sure!
That's perfect.
In my other post I meant to say the Explorer's Club (now Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost).
Here's a picture (see #2 on the right).

But yours is MUCH better!

I agree with ImaginEar, this park is going to be something quite special.

Yep you got that right. The Jungle Riverboat cruise is pretty original (no copycats or clones). Tarzan treehouse gives you a birds eye view of the park. I think its the tallest structure in the whole park, you can even see the 2 hotels beyond the berm.

The size of this park is decent for an opening. Its not as small as you think in those early ariel shots.
After a day walking in HKDL your feet will start to ache.

I do find that Tomorrowland is more compacted with all the attractions (Autopia is already in construction, you might see it still under construction when HKDL opens on Sept. 12th), Fantasyland is a bit more spaced out while Adventureland is really big and spaced out between attractions. I don't count Main Street USA because there aren't any attractions there.

I hope I can get there some day...It looks very nice. I am a little iffy on the castle being below the mountains, but what can you do now??

I am sure this has already been asked but, is there room for an expansion to the park?

or maybe another park? I'm not familar with the island.
