New High School Musical Stage.

I hope High School isn't in my future

I do have to agree that the Galaxy Palace would have been a better selection. It just really stands out right now, and I think HSM has enough of a draw to get people into the theater. If they were going to put it into a temporary location like it is, I would have preferred it in that no-man's land between the Teacups, MTTF, and Speedway.

Although, overall, count me in the "send it to MGM" boat.

Me too. I was hoping it would be in the Galaxy Palace theater, but I guess Disney thought it wasn't the right place for it. They needed it right in the open area of Tomorrowland! :brick:

The ABC Theater would have been perfect for HSM. They could have even made it a full play there. That would have packed the place out and help save Disney from it's teen crowd who thinks it's (Disney World) lame. I too vote for moving it to MGM!

But the show is just supposed to be a quick way to entertain kids and get them to be apart of the show and be active. If you put it in a theater it couldn't do that.

I saw it again today and the stage has indeed been improved. It is now more than twice the size it was orginally and has the Wild Cats Blocks like the one in DCA. It also has three large banners with things like Go Wild Cats as the backdrop. They have also added tons of new performers. They also are now teaching a shorter segment of the Dance in a much slower fashion like the show at DCA. The show is much better with these improvements but I think could still be improved with an addition of some more songs. Over all greatly improved.

But Disneyland began, among other things, as a collaborative marketing venue for Disney's TV shows and movie productions. So why shouldn't High School Musical be a part of the entertainment offerings?

If you are going to add attractions themed to incorporate films into the parks like Disney has always done while also making original themed attractions, that is fine by me. It just does not make any sense to have High School Musical in Tomorrowland.

Another "move to MGM" poster opinion here.

Just as a small retort to this, were those the things that have proven Disney's most successful theme park ventures, though? The lands and some attractions were either based or loosely inspired by films, yes. But, let's list Disneyland's most long-lived attractions:

Matterhorn
Autopia
Space mountain
Mansion
Pirates
IASW
BTMRR
Tiki (at least long-lived)
Monorail
and the Fantasyland Attractions

Really, the last one is the only truly film-inspired attraction as these modern crop have been. I don't meant to suggest synergy isn't a defendable business model; I just don't think likening it to what DL was and, more importantly, what has provided (perhaps) the best returns on investment.

Ok if you didn't put it in Tomorrow where else would you have put it? And I don't want to hear "Well I think it would work better in (insert park name here)" They obviously wanted to focus on MK for this celebration. They added a new form of entertainment to each major land. Front. got Woody's cowboy camp, Adventure. got the Pirate show, Fantasy. got Lets have a ball, and main street got Family fun day parade.

In my opion High School Musical is in no way out of place. Wouldn't the future still have High Schools? Just my 2 cents.

Don't you think that Star Wars Jedi Training would fit Tomorrowland much more though?

Well, as it has been stated before: "It's their park, they can do as they please."

I guess they put an attraction where they think that the need is the greatest.

1) You forgot to mention Jungle Cruise (which was based on The African Queen)
2) Grouping 'The Fantasyland Attractions' is kind of unfair as they consist of Peter Pan, Dumbo, Snow White, Carousel, Teacups & Mr. Toad....all strongly based on Disney movies
3) The entire castle was a big promo for Sleeping Beauty

In fact, eliminating the transportation (as I don't see how trolleys and other vehicles are attractions) and the Mule Pack (which could easily be countered with the 20k Leagues Exhibit), just over half the OD attractions were Disney-movie themed (Carousel, Pan, Snow White, Tea Party, Canal Boats, Toad). In fact, more of the non-movie-themed attractions from DL's opening day are now closed than movie-themed attractions (which in fact are all still open).

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I meant attractions that have defined DL. Mule Pack, 20kl, etc. have all been closed and weren't performing that well. Also, the JC and other tie-ins aren't necessarily that valid because the majority of guests had no idea about the tie in. It was assumed to be original.

Again, I'm not trying to say you are wrong or anything in an attacking way. All I am saying is that the comparison to opening day is really not valid today. The "other side" does it just as much with the WWWD arguments. Today's audience has changed (granted, I think there are baseline similarities humanity shares thoughout the ages, and Disney USED to be really great at tapping into those through both film and original attractions - and still does every now and then today). Today's Disney has changed. I would even agree that today's Disney actually may look more like the OD DL Disney in regards of marketing, although today's consumer is more savvy about "synergy" and "marketing". Therefore, it comes off as an ulterior motive merely because of the number of ads thrown at us on a daily basis. At least DL had a very strong eye to coherent themes (which, again, may not be what today's audience wants - but, it is questionable whether that audience is the same that would return year after year en masse).

Because it is extremely popular and NOW is the time to capitalize on it.

If, of course, by 'any other movie' you are excluding Peter Pan, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Swiss Family Robinson, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, Dumbo, Lilo & Stitch & Pirates of the Caribbean (not to mention the fact that Jungle cruise was also based on a movie).

OMG!!! WOW why would i mean those classic movies?!?!?!?! i mean disney channel movies! and with this show its prolly not the original cast it it? (please answer with out bitting my head off)
