New Height Restriction for Splash Mountain

The LA Times Travel Blog is reporting that the front seat for Disneyland's version of Splash Mountain is being temporarily raised from 40 inches to 60 inches, possibly due to recent safety concerns:

Wow. For a second there, I thought they raised the entire height requirement to 60 inches...that would be absurd. I guess it isn't too bad since it's only the front seat. I never see small children in the front. They're always in the back seat with a parent.

I can see a bunch of parents getting mad because their kid can't sit in the front.

It's a good thing that I just clear 5ft... that is, if I had a chance to go to California. ^_^

(Personally, I'd refrain from letting my kids sit in front without an adult, but that's just me... then again, I can trust my kids not to horse around on rides, because they know that we'd leave the parks.)

This may sound like a silly rhetorical question to some of you, but I wonder if the one at Magic Kingdom might change its height requirements eventually as well? (Keep in mind that I haven't been to Anaheim, so I don't know if there is a major difference in the main drop.)

The log is different for the MK version as compared to the one at DL, so I don't think we'll see a similar restriction at MK.

I'd really like to plan a Disneyland trip at some point. Since we moved last year, it's just not in the cards for a while.
