New Generic Option - Costume Shortage

It appears the parks are experiencing a costume shortage at the moment. Not sure if supply issue, having gender neutral option, or the large influx of new hires, or combination of all of the above. At MK today I saw frontierland attractions cast wearing the frontierland outdoor foods costumes, and Columbia Harbor house wearing GR pants with white dress shirts instead of the normal costume. At Epcot today people in Norway bakery were wearing the old electric umbrella costumes and in France wearing the old innoventions costumes. Hopefully they can get the right pieces in soon.

Yeah, this has been an issue especially with “multipurpose outfits on the older end.” Really any outfit used in a variety of locations, that wasn’t a new outfit post ~2017 (ex. the special event blue striped shirt, Epcot Festival shirts, etc.). For reference, new multipurpose outfits would be things like the DAK costumes that cover Oasis and Discovery Island or the Studios Costumes that cover every theater and main entrance (expect a new main entrance costume that covers a multitude of areas at Epcot soonish).

I assumed Epcot was on the cusp of getting new costumes soon with the reimagining, though the flying spaceship earth shirts have probably aged the best out of a lot of the costumes. Is this going to replace pavilion specific costumes or more for main entrance/merch/odf etc? Also wondering how much longer the infamous flag shirt will survive.

Strange. There were usually somewhat large reserves of most costume pieces in storage off site.

At least it's in the same land. Saw a bunch of CMs from different lands taking pics of eachother in Town Square the other day and was shocked. 10+ years ago that would have been a terminable offense.
Was it for crowd control? PAC has gone back to deploying people from around the park to do crowd control and they can wear their lands costume for this. Though they shouldn’t be taking pictures of each other on stage, sounds like CPs updating their Instagram pages *eye roll*

I have no knowledge to confirm or deny this but I often wonder how many costumes they just never got back after the closure, sending CPs / CRs home, ending seasonal, layoffs, etc.

We were never allowed to go beyond the Hub in non-MSUSA costumes when I worked PAC (the Hub is considered its own non-themed area). We definitely would not have been allowed anywhere near Town Square...

Of course! I’m thinking neon orange with stripes of neon yellow with a giant Disney “D” on it. That way everyone knows it’s more Disney!

Yeah, but how will we make it More Relevant, More Timeless, and More Family®?

We noticed when we had dinner at the Biergarten a couple of weeks ago that except for one female server in a dirndl, all of the cast members (except for the performers onstage), male and female, were wearing generic black trousers with white shirts and black vests. We were kind of surprised that such a subtle change could so dramatically diminish the immersiveness of the theming, but it really stuck out. Well, that and the fact that our server was an Italian-American gentleman with a New Jersey accent... ;)
