LOL! I didn´t know someone else had asked for something similar...

Hey Steve, is the red dot next to my name visible to everyone? Or am I the only one who sees "Maria is invisible"? LOL
I´m hoping I´m the only one who sees it, of course!
I was always in invisible with the previous format, but now, I didn´t check my settings and noticed I had an asterisk next to my name in the online members list. Does that mean I am invisible or because my name is there, I am visible to everyone? I´m confused....

Other cool things:
You can turn on and off avatars and signatures
You click on a persons name and you get a pull down of options; profile, PM etc.
If you have AIM or YAHOO then an icon appears in the 'avatar' area.

Very cool new stuff in the USER CP. You can even add your picture to your profile.

I've seen some other forums running this version, but with the layout like we used to have it - although I think a change is always good and if you're going to upgrade to the next version we might as well have a new look It'll take some time to get used to, but I like it :sohappy:

The new layout in most cases reduces scrolling, have a look at the 2 screen shots below, they show the same posts, and you will see that with the new layout there is less vertical space taken up. This will particularly be the csae with short posts.

I don't know...I really like the new layout...the new look as whole....and after seeing everything...or most of everything, I have to say...great job Steve!

The new look has grown on me. I'm still finding my way around, but my only complaint is that you can't log out. (I know...who wants to. :lol: ) Since I share my computer with other people I don't like to go away and leave myself logged on.

FEEDBACK - Is there a way to make 'quick reply' always active without haveing to click on the small icon first. disneyworldtrivia.com uses the same software and I can quick reply without having to so any extra steps.

I like the new software. I am not sure if I like the horizontal nature of the current configuration (over the previous more paned nature.) Maybe just because it is so different from what I have used over the years and years of forums.

The quick reply has to be be actiavted to a post, so that the threaded display view will work. (In that mode each post is attached to another post, so a reply has to be linked in some way. if there wasnt an activation icon, the software would have no idea what you were quick replying too).


You can change the horizontal view mode back to vertical in your USERCP, OPTIONS, AVATAR POSITION.

The horizontal layout is just wayyy to clumsy to read

Hey Maria, yup only you see the red dot, its just so you know you are invisible. Same with the asterix by your name in the list.

is the 'view new posts' link missing, or can i just not find it? i used to have that booked marked so i could pop in throughout the day and see what threads were active...

Okay, here's one, these new forums seem to be slower than molasses. Is that just a temporary thing while it re-builds the database?

Also, the custom avatar size seems to be set at a smaller height & file size. Can you bump it back up to 160x160 for us and the higher KB that we had on the old forums?

And would you believe that when I'm viewing this site, it takes up 99% of my system processes. Somethin's really wrong there...

However...

I love the new look, and the new features. If you can just fix those minor issues, I'm sure we'll all like you again. Have a good one!

Yup its still rebuilding the search database in the background. Its currently occupying 100% of the server CPU resources, so things are going to be slow for another 12 hours or so.

Avatar size is reduced to be more suitable for the horizontal layout, rather than being square, they are now in a landscaped aspect ratio.

I just realized I was missing a lot of the posts in a thread. I had the display mode set to Hybrid, but I didn't realize that did not show all the posts in the thread, only showed those under that one tree branch. So you may want to ake extra care if you use anything other than linear mode.

Anyways, I did the steps on that post, and I still had to relogin for both this reply, and a post I posted inanother thread..

Also, this may be a simple fix and not on your priority list right now, but on the Whats New page, could you fix the Forum activity box so that it either dosen't show the names, or its back in a clean list view? Also, could you set it back so that the threads open in a new window when you click on the link?
