New EPCOT parade - any news from the "insiders" ?

For those of you that we like to call "in the know", is there any talk about Epcot getting a new parade? Or is it all "blue sky" ideas currently?

If they are, I'm assuming it will be for their 25th Anniversary (if they actually officially celebrate such, since the 20th Ann wasn't recognized).

While I liked the idea of having something added to the park, it was always nice not to have to avoid it, (or dread it) like at the MK. :D

I would like to have some sort of parade at EPCOT. It's the only park that doesn't have one. What if they had some sort of day time show in world showcase lagoon since they isn't really enough room on the streets of the world showcase countries or even future world for that matter. TDS I believe has a show/parade that is like this idea. Not sure imagineers are working on a parade or not but it would be cool

I never saw the epcot parade(s), but I can imagine with the little walking room there is around WS it must have been really hard for people to bypass the parade.

no, unfortunately, I am not. But I have a girlfriend who is, and many personal connections from my time spent working for Walt Disney Entertainment that have said there is no parade in the works.

But what would I know... any Epcot Attractions CM would know more about this than me.

Epcot really doesn't need it. It would be a waste of funds, IMHO. Besides, as was pointed out above, for a park as physically large as Epcot the walkways in many cases (especially in World Showcase) are already crowded. Future World isn't designed really any better for it. I'd much rather see them invest in improving Illuminations instead.

I'd give it another 20 years before we see a parade, that's the time between the first and ToN, they need time to forget how much of a nightmare it is.

Lee???

I haven't heard about anything being planned.
Entertainment isn't my best subject, but I probably would've heard at least that they were working on something.

In all actuality, technology and space wise, Future World has the ability to have a parade the size of MK's or even bigger.

While I enjoyed the World Showcase parade, it really did shut things down. If I had seen it already, I know I would have been annoyed trying to get from one pavilion to the next while it was on.

Epcot has existing resources they are underutilizing. The fountain at the center of the park has a stage built into it opening up into the large plaza that leads to the World Showcase. Never once seen anyone on it. The Festival Pavilion sits mostly empty along with Odyssey.

And if it was a choice between a large parade or more pavilion-specific entertainment, give me the pavilion entertainment any day. Heck, schedule the pavilion entertainment so a visitor could start at Mexico and walk around the world with a new act starting 10 minutes later in the next pavilion around the ring. "Parade of Progress. Where the entertainment stays put and you do the walking!"

:veryconfu Future World really can't host a parade untill they they remove the giant supports holding up the Innoventions roof when you walk through innoventions. Even the ToN floats would have a hard time through that little space!

AHA! but there was a "street festival" b4 ToN! A mardi gras themed caravan strolled through the promenade w/characters, stilts, floats and.. yes... puppets. and it was recent, like late 90's i wanna say... i think u can expect if ANYTHING ever comes out of epcot entertainemnt, to see smething more along the lines of this and not a FULLOUT parade. the promenade isnt exactly suited for traditional floats, and guest flow is always a logistics nightmare, and one of extreme importance in WS, where there are only TWO directions to flow and no back corners to "avoid" the parade...

And i;m w/ Rob... last I have heard, there are NO plans for a parade at Epcot anytime in the near future. someone has to come up with a way to get around all the problems before a new parade would get greenlit...
