Well I talked it over with my partner who is working with me on this new project and me a him feel that we need others opinions and suggestions. We met via another Disney message board and we hit it off right away. We decided to take our love for Disney and Imagineering and use it to design something together for fun. My partner put all the names of the gates in a hat and then random drew out a park, we got Epcot. Then he placed in a hat various types of things we could design, from attraction, show, dinning experience, new land in world showcase. Well, he ended up pulling out attraction. So we started brainstorming back in January and came up with some ideas. We ended up going with a concept I through out durring one of our blue sky sessions. For the past 7 months when we have free time we have been working on this project. I just graduated from college and he still has another year so the time we have to work on this is little. There hasn't been a lot of free time to work on it but it's all for fun in the end. My partner started a blog so that we could post each others ideas and suggestions seeing how I'm in the states and he's in canada. We think we've came up with something a majority of the demographic would enjoy. Now I've had a bit experience with designing an attraction for WDI...I was the 2005 first place winner of the ImagiNations University Design Contest. I had so much fun desiging my winning entry that this new idea of working on a team with another Disney lover in my age bracket sounded great!!!! Well anyway here's what we've been working on:

http://tronconcept.blogspot.com/

Please start at the first post back in January and read forward. It will better help you understand our process. There are a lot of pictures, most are inspirational pictures but there are some graphic designed mood/concept boards. It still is early in it's design and we feel that it will be another year or so before we have the attraction 100% flushed out.

We would like your constructive critisim. If you would like to leave some of your suggestions or comments on our blog we would love to hear them. Now I know some of you out there will be negative nancy's and that's all right. PLEASE if you have a problem with our design or concept describe what that may be in detail and why you feel said way. All comments will be taken into consideration.

Wow that's a great idea, I've seen it toyed with before, but it seems like you've really done your homework.

Currently my only suggestion would be to relocate the ride to MGM (because Tron was a movie) or to the Indy Speedway in MK. I just don't think it would fit in at Epcot.

I can't wait to hear more.

Thanks for posting your comments. I was beginning to think people had went into zombie mode or something...after 67 views and only two comments i find it odd that no one else has an opinion so I really appreciate the 2 comments on here. Thank you once again.

Dr. Seeker thanks for the idea. I agree with you that seeing how Tron is movie based why not MGM? well here's our reason for Epcot: it was the park that we pulled out of the hat, epcot is detached from most Disney movie property/characters but with the new finding nemo attraction and Kim Possible overlay it seems that current Imagineers are trying to find ways to incorporate more disney characters/property into this park to draw more crowds and to build profit on consumer products using said characters. I feel that future world needs a new pavillion, we want it to be about entertainment/computers. Now I know you're saying what about Innoventions? I feel innoventions is becoming out dated and too much of a playground stuck in the early 90's hince why we want to have our pavillion be sponsered by Macintosh. Macintosh is one of the hottest computer companies today with their computers, ipods, itunes etc. So when we decided to use mac for a sponser then I thought what disney property had to do with computers....TRON! So that's why we picked Epcot, plus Epcot doesn't have a roller coaster themed attraction like MK, MGM, and AK.
I think this ride is universal for 3 of the main gates: MK, Epcot, and MGM. Which is a good thing in my opinion.

I had also thought of placing it in the MK, being from Indiana I won't replace Indy 500. It's a bit of home in the park for me. I had thought of revamping the skyway landing facility in tomorrowland and taking Tomorrowland Transist Authority away and actually placing the track for the TRON lightcycle coaster there so that you race throughout Tomorrowland....only problem is that you're not in a computer in that setting. Have to stay true to the orginal story and the new one.

Imagineer that! Thanks for the comments as well!

Well people look for more storyboards, moodboards, concept graphics, video, scripts, etc. comming soon.

Hmmm... Interesting

One of the things I do to help me through my daily commute is to imagineer rides in the World. One of the ideas I had was a Tron in Epcot attraction. Spooky, huh? I've never been able to flesh it out, however, and I enjoyed going through your blog.

I admire your passion and your ability to follow through (I sit and dream and never "do"). I agree with your "Yup more pics.." post: it should definitely be in doors.

Something's missing, though, and I can't quite put my finger on it. I think interactivity is the way to go, and coasters are traditionally not interactive. How about taking some elements of Buzz Lightyear? It's a coaster *AND* you get to shoot stuff? A high-speed, thrill ride version of Space Ranger Spin?

Thanks for the comments on our blog and idea thus far. I totally agree with you about interactivity. It's becoming a theme we're seeing more and more of at Disney. However, a rollercoaster could be reimagineered to offer interactivity to guests but for this attraction me and my partner are focusing more on storyline, mood, and integration. But don't fret my friend...i have some ideas in the melting pot that uses interactivity for a new attraction based on the ever popular cult classic, Kingdom Hearts I, II, and the up-in-coming KH3. I have a great deal of ideas for new attractions and hardly anytime to work on them. Like I had said before I hope to have more of the Tron concepts flushed out soon. I find that when I come up with a new idea I tend to jump on it and come back to other things at a later time. I guess there's just not enough hours in the day.
