Do you mean afternoon tea, as described at the price listed?
Do you mean the entire restaurant?
I can see CBS being a location for smallish weddings, Bridal parties.
I'm tired of paying WDW prices for almost edible food.
Food is priced like character meal. Is the atmosphere, and better food quality, enough to get business.
Here's the reality, they're a third party restaurant leasing their space, the initial pricing got a lot of negative PR at launch, which has stuck with them, and the crowds aren't materializing. I don't even think they are on the Disney ADR system yet or even plan to be soon.
As much as I love cake, this is not a destination like Gideons where people will wait on line for a slice, and people are certainly not going to leave Epcot to walk over here for a meal (The rest of the empty expensive restaurants in the Boardwalk Area Resorts prove that). Once the initial buzz dies down, this place is toast...cake toast?

Why would it be added to MDE when it is on Open Table?
It is MDE (My Disney Experience), not DME. DME is Disney's Magic Express, which no longer exists.
Why wouldn't it be? Many third party restaurants, not located in theme parks, are in both. Disney Springs. The restaurants in the Swan, Dolphin and Reserve are on both.

Exactly! I’m surprised more people haven’t realized this. Open table is usually how I get my Boathouse reservations. Usually easier to get on Open Table than through Disney.
For some reason I thought it was Disney's Magical Experience.

Given how difficult/strict parking is at Boardwalk, Cake Bake Shop has contracted to bring in guests.
This is the problem. I think this concept works in Indiana where there's a market for "special occasion" places with casual food. At WDW, when the entire trip is a special occasion and little girls are always treated like princesses, there's an upper limit to what people are willing to pay for literal ham & cheese sandwiches, no matter how amazing the experience is.
As others said above, this could have maybe worked at GF - especially if they were outsourcing GFC. Most of the menu is literally hotel lobby food anyways.
CBS hasn't had a grand opening. You still can't make reservations on MDE. Calling it a failure, although possible, is premature.
Look at BBB. V&A. $800 NYE at the CA Grill. Special Occasion place. Weddings. Bachelorette parties.
Pricing is similar to character meals. The place has a shot.
I think it needs to validate valet parking.
The last consideration, if there even was one at all, for this restaurant was thematic cohesion. It was just a matter of matching an empty space to a prospective tenant. If this were situated at Disney Springs, I don't think it would get as much attention as it's getting now, but it certainly would have much better foot traffic.
Ye Olde Cake Bake Shoppe is a destination experience, that was sadly put in a location that is not enough of a destination that they need it to be.

I think they will be successful...there are enough visitors coming through that will want to try the next new thing.....Once. And if that is enough business for them, then they will be fine. They have years before they run out of new guests... I think the bakery will draw a lot of people for a $15 cookie sprinkled with glitter.... once.
