New employment...

Okay... I really, really, really want to work at Disney. I set up an appt. about a year ago... but of course my car messed up and I couldn't make it. Oh well... I am going to make another one. My questions are:

1) Are they funny about minors working there?
2) What all can minors do there?
3) What jobs are availible?

I would not prefer to do like custodial (only beacuse I can't stand the site of a porter after working at AMC), but I'd take it if I have to. Is it easy to get a job there? Are there a lot of requirements? Do they even need anyone there now? My friend Michael works there (he's an older guy [NOT old, but not a teen like me]) and he works at AMC with me. Well... use to, I don't work there anymore. He said that now that it's summer, the are taking a lot of people esp. for like seasonal employment. I'd do that, and I really want to work there. I remember when I was a little kid and I saw the cast members I'd be like..."Someday, that'll be me!!". Theme parks is also where I want to set my carrer in. Once I am done with high school, I am going to major in Business Opperations, Business Financing and Public Relations to hopefuly br like a GM at a theme park (or section of, at least).

Anyway... sorry to ramble, and I am sure noone cares... but I was j/w about that. Thanks for reading! ;)

I'm not sure about all the rules because when I worked there I was 19, but this is what I remember from my college program in 2002. The minors that I worked with in merchandise could work pretty much whenever during the summer, but when school started they could only work on the weekends (like saturday and sunday). I think that's how it worked anyways.

Good Luck! :)

That's pretty much what I thought. FL is tough with child labor laws (no working past 11; no more than 30 hours a week; no more than 4 hours w/o a break and stuff like that). I know they are a lot more leniant (sp??) when school is out. Thanks for replying! :)

If I'm not wrong, Disney also has its own rules about hiring minors, like you have to be at least 18 to be able to work in attractions, otherwise they'll put you in food and beverages. I'm not very sure what the rule really says or whether this is a federal rule or Disney rule. But you can call and ask the JobLine at (407) 828-1000. Make sure you get your parents' permission before dialing this number if you're under 18.

When I was in College Program, I met some people who had been working there since they were 16. They told me they started at Food and Beverages. When they were 18, they were able to transfer to attractions. But they have to meet the transfer guildelines, e.g., # of reprimands etc.

Is it easy to get a job in Disney? Well, make sure when you come for the interview, you present yourself in the Disney manner. Disney is quite strict about your appearance, e.g. your nail, your hair, your shoes. Especially HAIR.

Don't be too nervous. Let them know that you're a FUN person to work with.

I heard that Disney is hiring right now for summer.

Have fun & happy working!

DJL said basicly you can't be a server, can't have anything to do with alcholo, clubs (anything in an adult enviorment) and you can't opperate attractions. They said FP and like doing all the height checking and all of that stuff is fine beacuase you're not 'opperating heavy machinery' and thats where that rule comes in. I'm scared about the interview though... out of the thousands that apply, how manny get the job? Any suggestions?

No, I don't live in FL. I did live there for a while during my college program.

I wish I could come back!

Lol. My bad I feel dumb now. :brick:

Thanks for the luck... I think I'll need it. I am going to try to be friendly but professional at the same time. Make sure I am very clean cut looking, well dressed, and all that stuff w/o over doing it.

I took my interview and "got the job". But, the guy said there are no minor positions availble at this time. He looked a couple of times for me, he said he really liked me and I got the job but there wouldn't be one for at least a little while. But he did say I was priority on the list and said something like 'code skilled' (??) or something. Does anyone know what this means? Do you think I'll actualy get it. He did act like I did and seemed really dispointed that he couldn't find anything, and looked for like 20 minutes. I was surprised that the pay rate for qs (food and bevarges) is like $7.05. Any thoughts about anything?
