A very efficient parking deck puts the cost per space at approximately $10,000-12,000. That is for a precast structure that isn't all prettied up like Disney would want.

A typical parking space in an asphalt lot (including all landscaping, striping, drainage, ect...) typically runs $1,000-1,200.

Hard to justify structured parking solutions when you own 26,000 acres. To build a structured deck for say, the Magic Kingdom, (12,000 spaces) you could have an e-ticket.

You may be able to justify it at DHS, where a prime expansion plot is taken up in part by the Cast Member Parking Lot. Instead of building onto wetlands or re-aligning waterways for a new lot, you could build up. It wouldn't be cheap, but could work given the situation.

It would probably be cheaper to just make Cast Members park elsewhere and bus them over to the park.

The cost of the Mickey & Friends garage at Disneyland alone cost $100 million. To put that in perspective, that's in the ballpark of a typical "E-ticket" attraction.

well it was about $90 million, but your point is still made. DL's parking structure cost about as much as EE, and gets about as much love as the yeti by park management.

Universal uses far fewer personal because of the way they can funnel traffic
That might be true, but in my observations Universal is much worse at actually getting cars to parking spots on a crowded, or even uncrowded day. They just don't work as efficiently as the Disney parking folks.

It wouldn't cost $50 - $100 million to reroute South Studio Drive and build a new parking lot.

The only place a parking garage would be added on property is DTD.

Because it would open up space for more hotel rooms on the MK loop. These are often, if not always under high demand with prices to match thereby making the cost of parking garages easily justified. Big picture folks. Remember what we are told, "everything is connected".

Apples/Oranges. First of all California has much higher labor costs. Second, garages in California have to be built to withstand earthquakes. There are not so many earthquakes in Florida. Hurricanes are non-factors so don't even try that.

Cast member parking is an integral part of my plan. But they won't have to be bussed. I have something much better in mind that CM's should love. At least more than the current situation.

I have just seen this topic,

Great news, if it is true, has it been confirmed yet? And if so, is there a completion date set or a guess at one? I know those are big questions but Im very interested :) Possibly a long-term idea to purchase probably :D

Merry Xmas Too all you fellow WDW'ers :)

The STOL area has views of MK parking lot the TTC or forest.

Yes you are on the Monorail line with MK and EPCOT very accessible but your fairly close to the Speedway aren't you?

The old Venetian Resort area would be better IMHO.

I could be wrong, but I don't see them adding stops on the Epcot line and lengthening that ride. It seems like an unlikely service disruption for 98% of the guests on that line.

This works for the MK resorts because of the dual express and resort lines.

Actually my point was that you are close to the speedway and would get noise when there are events or someone doing the Race car experience.

Not my cup of tea. I think the noise level would be too loud.

Hurricanes shouldn't matter for a parking structure but with the high watertable, they will have to be drive down the support pylons a hundred feet into the earth.

they will add a stop if it makes sense and won't cost that much. One extra stop on a 8 mile loop won't disrupt anyone.
