La Brea is adding a kitchen to the casual, quick-service side where diners order food at the counter and will get served at tables. Before, customers picked up food at the counter where food was brought over from a kitchen in the full-service side of the building.
After the remodeling, La Brea will bake fresh items throughout the day, giving the scent of cinnamon rolls in the morning and, perhaps, cookies in the afternoon. Customers will be able to watch preparers roll dough for pastries and make other items, some in a new wood stove, Olcott said.
“You’ll get a scent of what’s going on,” Olcott said. “Disney is really into exhibition, so we work well together that way.”

This month, the LEGO Store will move into a temporary location in the Downtown Disney District, while its permanent site gets a complete LEGO overhaul! Guests will enjoy a brand-new interactive outdoor play area, all-new play areas inside the store, and of course, new large-scale LEGO models located both inside and outside the re-imagined LEGO Store.

Compass Books
The final week for Compass Books as the location will close on March 31. Earl of Sandwich will be the replacement.

LEGO
The LEGO building got repainted(kinda looks like candy corn to me) and some of the LEGO figures can be seen. Columns for the Beauty and the Beast are on the far right covered in black, and parts of Maleficent can be seen as well.

Some progess can finally be seen peaking over the walls and scafolding. I think the whole places closes soon to finish up the other (currently) untouched half.

This La Brea Bakery rehab thing is kinda weird. It's a HUGE deal, basically rebuilding the entire facility and expanding the kitchens and redoing what was, quite frankly, a rather underused dining option at DTD. (They have good pastries, mediocre lunch entrees, and horrifically bad espresso drinks, with never a big line.)

What if this La Brea dramatic remodel and repurposing of the facility is part of an expansion that slots in a Starbucks on the western flanks of the building, where the sit-down restaurant currently is?

WonderGround Gallery(new store) and Uva Bar(refurbishment) have no visible progress

LEGO had it's grand opening this weekend. It reopened a few weeks ago.

Even with the changes, we continue to be disappointed with the choices of shops at DTD. I miss Basin, and wish that there were more shops for that demographic. I AM pleased with the art gallery.

We always spend time at DTD, but after dinner, a stop at the WOD, and a few quick drop in visits at the stores, we head back.

I really like the new stores at Downtown Disney but some I feel like Disney must have made a mistake. I get that they are trying to bring in all different ages but some stores that I went to in April were like, "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?" :shrug:. They should try to have stores that are more Disney like but are still non-Disney stores. My favorite will always be World of Disney!

As I mentioned above, WonderGround Gallery will feature an Artist in Residence program. Each month, a new artist will call WonderGround Gallery their home as they work on upcoming projects, live paintings, art demonstrations and more. Local Southern California artist Noah is scheduled to be our very first Artist in Residence and will be on hand every Friday and Saturday night throughout the month of June, from 5–9 p.m. In addition to our Artist in Residence, other local artisans will appear to showcase some of their new releases and collections.
