From Dateline Disneyland, a picture of the radio controlled boats outside Rainforest, but everyone knows if you want better radio control boats you go to Disneyland Hotel and play the Jungle Cruise boats.

Sanuk is set to close on March 14, Ridemakerz will also close to expand its location taking over Sanuk and Ridemakerz current location. I wonder where Sanuk will end up with no open store fronts maybe they'll get a cart?

A casual shoe store quickly became one of the top sellers in Downtown Disney after it opened in November. But Sanuk is set to shut down as early as March 14 when its temporary agreement ends.

Sanuk and Disney are in talks to find a new location within Downtown Disney, but nothing has been found yet, said James Crush, marketing manager for Sanuk Footwear.

“We are working with Sanuk to develop future opportunities in Downtown Disney,” said Betsy Sanchez, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman, in a prepared statement.

Apricot Lane will replace Kitson Kids in June 2011

http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?166127

ANAHEIM, CALIF. April 12, 2011 – Disneyland Resort today announced that fashion boutique Apricot Lane will join Downtown Disney in early June 2011.

“We always look to add unique locations that provide our guests a shopping experience unlike anywhere else – Apricot Lane certainly fits that mold,” said Tony Bruno, vice president of Disneyland Resort hotels and Downtown Disney. “Our guests are going to love the fashion collection Apricot Lane has to offer.”

Ok so not exactly new store news, but MousePlanet is reporting that Island Charters an opening day store at DTD will be closing Jan 8, 2012

Good!

Okay, that was mean, and everyone has their own taste and style.

But I never got Island Charters. It seemed like a 1990's store for old guys from the Midwest. It never fit the vibe of SoCal, and it hasn't gotten better with age.

Now, I wonder what replaces it?

The store defiantly hasn't aged well compared to the others making matters worse being right next door to the D-Street. Can't say I'll miss it nor do I think I've ever stepped foot inside....

What ever replaces it, will no doubt also find a home in WDW's DTD:ROFLOL:. Although I'm still hoping that will get something from WDW's that being Earl of Sandwich!!! :D

Some more updates about DTD

Island Charters is now closed.(No permanent replacement named)

LEGO will move in temporarily to the former Island Charters location, while its permanent location is remodeled.

La Brea Bakery is expanding its indoor dinning taking over the east patio closest to DCA's entrance. The bakery should stay open as normal.

Compass Books is said to be closing on March 31.

Correction La Brea Bakery has the quick service side closed, and the sit down side open.

The Cupcake Store looks as if it will finally have its own location that isn't that odd gazebo thing near ESPN Zone.

Rumors

Earl of Sandwich

The plan now is to swap the Compass Books space out for a dining location, possibly the first Earl of Sandwich shop on the West Coast. That would be a welcome addition to Downtown Disney and fill a much-needed gap for an affordable lunch or dinner option amongst all the existing high-end or hyper-themed dining.

Besides the two Manhattan locations, Earl of Sandwich has signed deals to open restaurants in Atlantic City, N.J.; Anaheim, Calif.; Boston and Boca Raton, Fla.; Earl said.

Starbucks

The addition of Starbucks into Downtown Disney later this year is being handled with extra layers of secrecy, and the location is being purposely kept a secret from even upper level management to “protect the contract negotiations.” Even with all the corporate secrecy behind the scenes, there are two solid scenarios that pop up the most frequently from the confused TDA rumor mill, and they revolve around the La Brea Bakery expansion currently underway. One scenario has Starbucks taking over the expanded eastern wing of the La Brea Bakery building, with swarms of people stopping for lattes and mochas as they exit the parking trams each morning. The second rumored scenario has Starbucks moving in to the old Compass Books space to focus on moviegoers and hotel guests at the other end of the mall, while Earl of Sandwich moves in to the expanded space once used for La Brea’s sandwich counter.

Island Charters replacement(After LEGO moves in and then back out)
The space once used by Island Charters is being eyed for a Disney-operated home accessories store, building off the success of the upscale D Street and Vault 28 stores in that same corner of the mall.
