Thanks to Joe again!

I also liked the green roof, but this one dosn`t look too bad - seems like the Grand Floridians design with a Newport Bay appearence.

From the pics its looks awfully close to the TDL entrance - kind of like a DLP style retrofit. I`d like to see a plan of the proposal to see how it fits in (from the description it does sound very DLP Disneyland Hotel-like)

Oh I agree, very DLP. I can hardly wait to see the details and plans.
Shame there is no real room in Florida and California to build Front gate hotels.
BTW: How have you been?

If money was no object and WDW needed another resort then WDI could easily recliam some of the Seven Seas lagoon infront of the MK and build a new monorail resort right at the entrance to the MK. They could even take the idea from DLP where the central part of the hotel is actually elevated and build ontop of the exiting boat launch area, retheme the monorail station and build a bridge connecting them and WDW would have its very own Magic Kingdom Resort! although the trend of building them in a victorian style would be a bit weird with the Grand Floridian right there, but I guess they could try a more Main Street USA resort theme, with varying facades like the Mira Costa in TDL?

Very cool idea about the Main St USA resort. Sort of the Westcot idea of staying right inside the resort.
Two Victorian Hotels would look odd, unless they make it a different colour scheme, smaller and add the DLP clock (love that thing), but even then...
I really hope DLR gets a GF style hotel in the future.

WDW can't afford to do that since the whole "Castle from across the lake" view is a major component of the area. The Wedding pavillion uses it along with all of the MK area resorts. It's also something unique to the resort and is a main reason why they built the lagoon in the first place.

I always thought that the backstreets of MGM should have been a hotel in the manner of the Miracosta. But MGM was built in a hurry.

Absolutely!
First time I saw the Hollywood themed hotel for HKDL I thought it would look great in or near MGM.

I believe there used to be plans to build a bunch of suites near where the bus depot is now. Since the depot is huge, and there isn't much land over there, that plan is probably scrapped. When you consider all the room needed for the hotel (building, parking, facilities, landscaping, etc), it's a pretty large project. There's really not much room for a resort in that area.

Epcot really doesn't have a great place to put a resort in. World Showcase has some potential spots for one, but since everything back there is forced perspective, it would destroy the illusion (imagine having a real 7 story building that's standing next to a 7 story building that's supposed to be 10 stories!)

MGM is actually the perfect location for a resort. They could put one right on Sunset Blvd behind the Market. It would also have a great theme that hasn't been used with a hotel yet. Another one could go near Echo Lake, and have an Art Deco theme (again, unused)

AK is the perfect park for a resort, but AKL already exists off the park property. Imagine having a resort near where Everest is now, where rooms would look out over the lagoon and towards Discovery Island and the Tree of Life. Another great resort location would be between Camp Minnie Mickey and Harambe.

Whew

DigitalDisney ( ) is right - between the MK & Contemporary was proposed the Kingdom Suites Resort - modeled after the Contemporary, a complex of low ride suites on the shore of 7 Seas.

There have been quite a few change to proposed resorts with alternatives built instead, all that really remains is the Venitian / Meditteranian (sinking) plot and Persian (Boneyard) areas. TWDC did propose 2 movie themed hotels near MGM in the mid 90`s, but nothing came of it. And of course Pop needs to be completed.
