The Company has to be prepared to build a fifth park sometime in the next few years.

Disney does not have to build a fifth park. People keep saying they are going to build one because it was Walt's dream or plan to have seven gates. Well, I have some bad news, uncle Walt is dead, and he doesn't run the show anymore. Also, Walt's dream was to make Epcot a city, obviously we know what became of EPCOT.

A fifth park may never be built, it is not automatic that Disney World will keep building park after park after park. The conditions have to be right in order for a park to be added. For one there has to be the attendence available to make a return on their money. All a new park will do is take from the existing parks like AK did. I am sure AK cost in the billions to create and build and if that is the case it will take a long a while for it to start making a profit. I definitely don't see them starting a new park until AK starts turning a profit, and I think they are having attendence problem. After all that is why they are only open till 5:00 pm.

Back to the comment above. Does Disney have a few concepts on the shelf for a new park? Yeah, I am pretty sure they do. But that is a far as they will go unless it is fiscally viable to start the project, which I don't see being the case for another 10 to 15 years.

Hmmm... First off you have to get a job withWDI which is impossible as I have tried. Second to the other post. I am not saying it has to be Disney Seas. Could there be other parks planned. And would they anounce them or begin construction? Does anyone recall if they announced construction of AK before or after grown was broken. Or did they have a fake ceromoney after it was already being built.

Building a park is something that doesn't go unnoticed. I don't see why they wouldn't announce it.

Granted. Ok, But, disney has announced that they have property and rights (Because as a part of walts original deal he couldn't build on a certain portion of the property) for like 15 more resorts and 4 more theme parks. Yes...and as attandace goes up in the current parks and it does.

So, they add more hotels as those fill up they add more parks. I'm sure we have all been enjoying lower wait times in recent years. But think back. There was a time where every ride was 30-45 minute wait. That has changed as disney continues to try to talor to there guest the addition of the new parks is so wait times aren't as high. And yet they still are sometimes. And yes AK has a early closing time. But I'm sure with a few more additions that to will change.

And Lynx, I have enjoy your post in other forms you are well informed and have great opinions. But, the Uncle Walt comment...A little to much. Most of us have a lot of respect for him. But, Again your post rock so it didn't bother me that much. :p :p

That I would love to see. I heard nothing but good things. Has anyone been on it?

Each of the parks has to be able to carry itself before a new park will be built. AK soaked guests from the other three parks, which doesn't help the company. Once AK has an annual attendance that fits with the amount of attractions/space it has, and all the other parks are doing the same, then (and only then) will a fifth park be considered. As stated before, Orlando is too saturated right now to afford anymore parks. Once tourism catches up to what everything Disney has to over, a fifth will be announced. That will not happen for another 8-15 years. Don't start thinking that just because attendance is rising a fifth park is coming. Disney got burned big time by AK, and they are not going to let the same thing happen again.

new guy!

As i amthe new guy please dont everyone tackle me at once(I'm sensitive). As for having a new park anytime in the near future i would think we would all agree in saying that would be great! I also think for the time being Disney really needs to concentrate on the parks at hand. Lets face it AK still needs a lot of work. More rides, more attractions you name it it needs it. While i am quite satisfied with the other three AK kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. I know it is the newest of the parks and with time comes beauty. So i will give it a little while and I know soon it will live up to Dsiney standards. I couldnt think of a single thing I would change at the other parks, I love them all just the way they are. So lets not concentrate on a new park lets all think of ideas for AK!

Well one of us should respond to his question. Ok the deal is duck_daddy, that there was a 5th gate planned. But as attendance is already spread out between the 4 park already around they deceded to dump more money into them to bring up attendance at MK EPCOT, MGM, & AK. Once attandence is in a place where the brass thinks that it warents a 5th gate (When wait times are back up to an hour during off peak times) They will announce a 5th gate.

There was no "plan" for a fifth gate. Granted, the "seven gate scenario" exists, but there were never anything explicit that was "put off" for another park.

My mistake...A friend of mine on the inside told me they scrapped a 5ht park for upgrades the other 4.

That is true, I suppose, from a certain point of view. They are using the money they would for a new park to upgrade the current four. But they never had a specific plan for the fifth gate.

When they can make the existing gates full-day parks, and attendance is high all-around, then they'll be more talk of a 5th gate. Until then, I'm not holding my breath.

Disney should make a theme park totaottly devoited to little children, like sesame place is.

It should cut number of crying kids and strollers, theres to many of them around,at some of the more adult orientated parks like epcot and animal kingdom!

I doubt we will ever see a park in Orlando like Tokyo Disney Sea. Money was no object in that parks construction because of the involvement of the Oriental Land Company. Disney can't even find a sponsor for the wonders of life pavilion, let alone someone to shell out big bucks for a park like Tokyo Disney Sea in the States. It's a nice thought but I honestly don't think it will happen.

If everyone in the country + more donated $1, Disney would have around $300 million to spend on something.:)
