Disneyland's new Celebration Ranch Barbeque has opened this weekend in Frontierland. :sohappy:

This is basically a heavily refurbished and re-imagineered version of the old Big Thunder Barbeque. The CM's are sporting a snazzy new "western" costume specific to the Ranch. It's an outdoor, all you can eat family style barbeque meal with a neat dessert and party favors. They did a great job with this, it looks like they spent some decent cash on it. There's also an outdoor stage with Buzz and Woody and Miss Chris doing non-stop stage shows, with a guitar player and piano player for backup. Anyone who remembers the old Woody's Roundup show in the Golden Horseshoe from 1999-2000 will find this show very familiar.

I haven't eaten there yet, but I have walked through and it looks fantastic. It's a great example of having the luxury of the near-perfect Southern California climate to work with, as it's all outdoors under the pine trees, and you couldn't get away with this venue in rainy and humid Florida or chilly and drizzly Paris or even four-seasons Tokyo.

Next door the Big Thunder petting zoo also seems to have gotten a refurbishment. The petting zoo CM's have new costumes. The animal pens and log cabin look great, and the animals are all still there for petting and viewing; the old dairy cow who just sort of chomps away in the corner, the adorable pack mules who are ornery but cute, the big pack of mischevious goats for petting and playing, and of course the Presidential Pardoned Turkey holding court over it all.

The OC Register has a great video review of the new offering, with clips of the stage show and interviews with tourists eating there. It's available both by reservation and for walk-in service. http://ocresort.freedomblogging.com...-joint-opens-in-disneyland/7217/#comment-3567

Looks really good. :slurp: But, don't you think it might be a wee bit pricey for folks that are now on a budget? Speaking of BBQ, I'd love to see a Lucille's at DTD. :slurp:
