New Button Designs on the way

Happy to see something more inclusive. Means a lot to my partner and I! We'll be celebrating 5 years of marriage this trip and we've definitely found our "happily ever after"!

When my fiance and I planned a trip...well at the time of planning he had no idea he'd be my fiance, until one evening at Epcot on the illuminations cruise I presented the ring...But anyway, I had my dad photoshop the existing button into something that would fit our needs... needless to say... it was a massive hit with all the castmembers, including a few managements folks.

Do yourself a favor and just make your own! It's way more fun and the buttons make great christmas tree ornaments.

My partner and I are travelling to WDW in September and this trip will be in part for the 10th anniversary of our civil partnership. I would have worn a happy anniversary badge for at least part of our trip, except for the fact it has Mickey and Minnie on it and I don't want to be asked which one of us is "Minnie". I don't expect Disney to offer a badge with two male (or two female) characters on each badge, but it would be nice to have a happy anniversary button as I agree that Happily Ever After is a bit vague and sounds more like a honeymoon thing.

I agree. I'm not offended by it either. My husband and I got married at Disneyland last September and wore our Just Married buttons (that feature Cinderella and Prince Charming). I was more excited to be able to wear the button than what characters it has. Disney is extremely open to MM or FF, but I think they are also mindful of everyone.

Would it be an issue then if they retained the mickey bands but had three versions - 'We're Engaged', 'Just Married' and 'Wedding Anniversary'? The issue therefore isn't that they are being 'PC' - it's that they amalgamated the three celebrations into one. I just have a problem with people whining about PC'ness - when actually it's a lovely thing for same-sex couples to be included alongside everyone else..

I think it would have been great to have different wording for the different celebrations available. I guess the question would have been whether to have three different designs (and have them all be neutral/inclusive) or to just use the same Mickey ring design for all of them.

I think the ideal world would have been keeping all of 'We're Engaged', 'Just Married' and 'Wedding Anniversary' but with three different neutral designs, but they probably felt there was not enough neutral imagery to make that work so they just picked one design/one pin for all.

We actually snagged one of the last "Just Engaged" button the last day of our trip (1/2/2016) at World of Disney. The CM said she has been trying her hardest to get rid of it for a while since Disney discontinued them. We actually acquired 3 different that whole trip. The trip was initially our 3 year anniversary of dating, then it turned into us getting engaged at midnight 1/1/2016 at Pop Century, then we got a "Happily Ever After" pin because we were speaking with the concierge at the hotel about wedding plans. I'm definitely planning on saving them since they're discontinuing the 2 of 3 pins I now have. Now proudly displayed on my Disney Vera Backpack :)

Imagine the uproar from the Kim Davises of the world if Disney released LGBT buttons. Pretty sure that's the outrage they're trying to avoid.

These people were dumb enough to scream over red Starbucks cups. A button with two princes on it? Hold onto your hats.

The Kim Davis'es of the world are entitled to their outrage does not mean I have to SHARE it. Yes the buttons may offend some and please others.

For moments like this I like to invoke Gandhi, "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

Kind of bummed the current "happily ever after" design is changing, I was so hoping to be engaged/married before they were gone because I love the carriage and castle image :)
I do have the "I'm celebrating!" one at least, though I'm sure we'll see the old versions pop up on eBay for silly prices once the change happens.

I'm amazed the buttons haven't been part of the cuts, what possible reason would Disney have for giving them away for free, when they're trying to foster an environment where every tiny thing has a cost attached to it for the guest?
