New Bus Colors?

I liked silver/red over white/red, but both are better than the purple/red/yellow thing they had before.

the kids at the bus stop got excited when the wrapped bus pulled up at AoA. The adults at the bus stop got excited when the bus pulled up at AoA and was going to their destination.

It's more like a normal "city bus" now IMHO. It needs to be more Disney-fied.

What qualifies as "fun"? There's a wrapped bus going around right now and people are about that as well. People will never be happy, no matter what is done.

I can understand some people complaining about the adver-wraps, I get that they can be annoying. But throw a few characters on the windows or paint some Mickey ears on the buses or something, make them look like a Disney bus and not just a bus that Disney bought and just threw a coat of paint on.

Maybe a better word to use for the paint scheme is "lazy". Uni is gaining on them, but TDO doesn't seem to notice or care. I could point out the stark differences between the Uni store and Disney EarPort at MCO, but that's for a different topic.

I prefer the gray and red color scheme to the white and red color scheme. The new paint pattern seems very art deco and classy to me.

However, I do really which they would have made the buses more like Tokyo's:

Though I am going to miss the original buses from a nostalgia standpoint. They are all I remember seeing at Disney World and not seeing the large Disney logo on the angle will be missed. Fun fact though, this bus design was originally designed by the firm that created the way-finding graphics throughout the resort in the 90s.

From what I understand they're keeping both if the money is a concern, I only saw about 20 of the new pattern/colors at the very most, even got some pictures of them too. Personally I doubt that they're going tto drop the original red and white color pattern for the new one if money is a concern as voiced already.

I hate to toot my own horn but I am glad they are getting rid of those Highfloor Gilleg buses that one has to litteraly climb into in favor of the Gilleg Lowfloor as pictured above.

Bumping this thread because of some information I heard tonight.

We were visiting with our friends. She went down this week to visit her brother and for the Marty Sklar book signing. She was chatting with those around her in line, one of which was in management in transportation maintenance.

They were discussing the new bus schemes, and he indicated that they went back to the white paint job because they found that it was extremely difficult to match the gray when they had to touch-up scratches, which they're doing already. I guess it's not quite the problem with the reds and other colors, but for some reason the touch-ups in the gray were sticking out like a sore thumb.

Just repeating what I heard from someone who heard it from someone who supposedly works in fleet maintenance.

This sounds legit. I have a silver car, and a buddy of mine does auto detailing. I was hoping to get a deal on some touch ups and he pointedly told me that it's a giant pain in the a$$ to touch up gray or silver.

Gray paint is definitely one of the most difficult to repair, without it flashing. Considering the "source" wasn't a bus driver or random non-transportation CM, but someone who directly oversees the repair of the buses, I give it a bit more credibility.

I actually like the newest white version though.

Just for the sake of accuracy the high floor buses were mostly RTS buses, not Gilleg. RTS bodies were put on many other chassis like GM and others. There were other makes besides Gillegs with the low floor layout as well, but Gilleg has kind of taken over the Transit Bus business.
