The Disney Parks blog has a new article up about a new package available for boys which sees them made into A Prince!

This will make very little money. If boys don't want to be pirates, they certainly don't want to become princes...they need to give up on trying to convince boys to wear [very over-priced] make-up in the theme parks.

My personal opinion is that no matter how many times they try, they are not going to get little boys to play "dress up" like little girls do so they can charge ridiculous rates for it. Someone is completely out of touch; it's either me or whoever keeps pushing this concept.

But this costs nothing to offer and any child that does get it is extra money for the mouse

it does cost money, though...

-everyone needs to be trained to do this
-they have to purchase the new make-up and costumes that parents won't be willing to buy for their sons
-they have to market this, inevitably lowering the price in 6 months followed by remarketing so they make very little profit on this

Option B: build the relatively-cheap Pirates Lair in Tom Sawyer Island (I realize there are thematic issues having it in Frontierland, but there are also thematic issues having Monsters, Inc. in Tomorrowland...basically, anything goes in the Magic Kingdom) so boys will want to go over there, run around, and get hungry = increased food sales = increased profits.

It betrays the same company-wide "they'll like what we are going to give them, or else" attitude that resulted in the original Fantasyland Forest plans (all princess meet & greets). Most little boys don't care about this princess stuff, but because the Mouse is making sooooo much cash off selling it to girls (with good reason, they do like it), they are hellbent on figuring out a way to sell princesses to boys and it's never going to happen.

I agree with your Kyle, these dress up packages for boys are ridiculous. They would be better off using the marketing power to sell some marvel toys or something.

It's obviously to make money off the little boys waiting for their sisters at BBB. Who would want to go ride something with your dad when you could play dress-up in a pink room?

I'm sure they will repaint it teal...

And then when none of the little boys want an extreme makeover, it will remain empty effectively cutting into the BBB profits. It would be better to start selling turkey legs in the BBB to keep all the males happy.

Doubt it will cost all that much more in terms of training and make up, it's pretty much the previous Cool Dude package with a new name.

I agree it's not expensive to put on, I just don't think they will make much money from this. They'd make more money by just keeping all of the rooms available to girls.

...or convert one room to a kitchen making turkey legs...

Sounds sanitary too. I know that I often like to eat in the same place I get my hair cut.

I agree with Kyle - this is lame as hell. Boys don't want to glitter up their hair and pretend to be a prince when their parents take them to Disney World. Well, a few might . . . :lookaroun
