The Art of Walt Disney World

Has anyone had a chance to pick up this new release yet? There have been a couple stellar online reviews thus far, and based upon the images they took from the book, I imagine this is going to be a real winner as far as the “official mainstream” WDW releases go.

Here are links to the reviews:

I probably will wait to pick it up until the holiday season discount promotions, but I am curious as to what others think of it.

So has anyone picked it up? Is it worth the $50 price tag? Is it better than (what I now consider to be the best current “official mainstream” WDW book release) Since the World Began?

Oh, and if you do find that you really need it right away, don’t pay the ridiculous prices on eBay and other sites. Call up WDW Mail Order instead.

I didn't even know this finally came out! I do want. I'd rather skim through it before I plop down 50 bucks though. In all honesty, I love concept art, but would much rather see an updated version of Since The World Began.

If it's anything like The Art of Disneyland, it's definitely worth $50. I'll definitely be getting this when I head down.

I asked about it when I was there on the 16th at the Art of Disney store in Epcot (buying my birthday Figment drawing) and the animator on hand hadn't heard of it but went in the back to check. He didn't have it but as we got discussing it more, he remembered which one I was talking about and said it was a nice one but that they didn't get a lot in and they sold out right away. They were expecting more in later though he said.

So I didn't get a chance to look at it but it seems like it's going pretty quick when they do get copies in stock.

I wouldn't bother at the art stores. The Emporium or World of Disney.

This looks awesome. I love looking at the original concept art sketches. Going to have to start saving for this.

I just picked up a copy of the book yesterday. It does have beautiful images, and illustrated some concepts I'd not seen before, but I wish it showed more from the mountain of past artwork. At 139 pages, it just feels a bit slim. I got it at World of Disney, and received a 10% discount as an annual passholder, and used the balance of my Birthday Fun Card. As a fan of the parks, this is a required book, and I would have bought it at full price, but would have grumbled a bit.

This is definately on my list of souvenirs to check out while I'm there. Does anyone know if "Since the World Began" is readily available at all the major stores as well?
