New Bon Voyage Breakfast character dining coming to Trattoria al Forno

Actually it is not... Nostalgia is HUGE and there were tons of things the resort used to have that it no longer does... They have actually over time trimmed down the amount of offerings while raising the prices...but we did get a third track for Toy Story Mania to keep it new and fresh...lol New doesn't always mean good.
Stagnant/nostalgic doesn't mean good either.

it would be come a loud chaotic restaurant that would be miserable to eat in...I will eat elsewhere from now on.

Seems like that's what Disney is going for, pretty much everywhere on their Florida property. Places that don't fit this model seem to be viewed as under-preforming, these days. o_O

The one time we ate there, the CM servers alone outnumbered the guests, not to mention the kitchen staff. There were only 2 other couples there. I would have just shut it down for breakfast totally if that's how many people are going to use it. The rumor is that there may still be a quiet area for those that don't want the character breakfast, but we'll have to wait and see if that happens.

Thanks, I hadn't quite gotten far enough in the thread to see the part of the discussion talking about all of that. :)

As I'm a FL local, we don't normally do the resorts but due to family, were recently over at the Beach Club and marveling (not in a good way) how crowded things felt between that Yacht and Boardwalk in terms of amenities. We didn't even consider breakfast as we were trying to get going early to beat some of the crowds elsewhere (cough, Frozen, cough, Mine Trains) so I'm the first to admit I don't speak from experience regarding this specific restaurant when talking about this change.

I sort of understand Disney putting the squeeze on the moderates and "value" resorts because they are/were offering a nicer option for people to upgrade to at a higher margin but my perception during this recent trip was that it felt like they were starting to do it at the deluxe resorts, too.

I could be totally off base with feeling that way though. It had been a long time since last staying in a Deluxe resort at Disney and good memories always make things from the past seem better than they were, I guess.

We just lost our favorite place for breakfast! How about splitting the place in half? Menu as usual and the other character? There is no other place at boardwalk for breakfast!

I actually used to like to go here for breakfast because it was the only quiet option...not overrun with kids and characters... So now what will my options be? I will have to go to another hotel because there are no other restaurants here serving breakfast.
There is another check in favor of stayng at The Dolphin over The Boardwalk... Character Breakfasts are great and all, but not everyone needs a meet and greet with every meal...
If you're staying at the Boardwalk then the Captain's Grille is a very quick walk. Also Grand Floridian Cafe and The Wave aren't bad. Even the first reservation slot at Boma and Whispering Canyon isn't that crowded if you don't mind getting up early enough. And then there are the other non-character breakfast places-- Las Ventanas, Olivia's, Kona Cafe. There is at least one non-character breakfast restaurant still in each resort area.

So Flynn is easy to imagine, but what will Eric talk about? His dog and his inability to recognize faces?
I met Eric outside of VotLM once...the show was cancelled, and they sent him out to do a M&G. He noticed my necklace (a small circle with an S on it), and asked what it was for. I said it was my daughter's first initial, and we went on to have a fun conversation about both of our daughters. It's one of the meet & greets that stands out the most to me out of all the ones we've done.

Brighter side of this:
Some semblance of character diversity! It's not just Ariel and Punzie, it's Flynn and Eric too. I'm hoping this is successful just so Disney learns the lesson that the princes are a draw just as much as the princesses.
How often do you see Eric out?

Other than that one time, or in a show, the only time I've seen Eric out at all is in a parade (we've seen him in DLR's Christmas Fantasy parade the last 2 years).

This is one character breakfast that, for me, would beat DLR's Plaza inn character breakfast.
