New Beverage Venue in Canada Pavilion

Haven't seen posted here, but there is a new wine "bar" (similar it seems to the venues in France and Germany) in the Canada showcase at Epcot. It located in the main plaza inside the Trading Post. This Disney operated location will feature wines from Ontario and British Columbia with Canadian Cultural Representatives as your Hosts. Working on getting more information/pictures/menu. Hopefully this will be the start of some new experiences to the Canada Pavilion!

Epcot was intended to be a permanent world's fair.
It seems to be becoming more of a permanent Food and Wine Festival.

No, honestly, it is nice to have "new experiences," and I don't totally dislike this if the wines are actually from or very much inspired by the country. Just in general, I don't think alcohol should be sold or served in a family-oriented theme park. It sends a mixed message. But that doesn't seem to be anywhere in the near future. So for now, sure, they're selling wine, but at least it's upholding the concept of world showcase in a way.

Normally I would agree but I think it is fine that Epcot serves alcohol. The park has been doing it since the begining, and some commercials even advertised that fact continually. By issue is when we only get things like this when other places in the park literally sit empty!

It was previously retail space, mostly plush animals, that have probably been located elsewhere in the shop. Think of France or Germany where there is a counter in the shop selling tastes of local wine rather than an actual bar.

The gift shop there is pleasant and a nice size. I'm somewhat neutral about them adding a new wine section, but not if it means they have to remove some of the existing merchandise space. As @NiarrNDisney mentioned, there are some empty storefronts, and I'd prefer they use some of that space to "expand" the shop for the new wine section.

Question: Does anyone know if there is actually any available space behind those empty storefronts up on that level? I've always wondered why they never added more shops, etc. up there, but perhaps there's not as much space as it appears, from just looking at it from the outside.

IIRC the shops on the upper level had mold issues and would need to be completely gutted, power-washed and then rebuilt. So it would be a significant investment just to make the space usable again.

The left hand side "mansion" is the stock room for merchandise and is not finished on the inside. The Hotel is finished on the inside. The first floor was closed because there was not enough merchandise to keep it open, and is now used for storage for Le Cellier, the second floor has a break room/meeting room and the third floor has mechanics for lasers for IllumiNations. The lights and BGM music still work inside, and all the HVAC was replaced a couple of years ago, but the inside would need a refurbishment to make it Guest ready. Hopefully one day it can be used again, even if just as a gallery space, it is quite nice inside.

I always wonder why people would opt to go to Epcot for $100 a day when you can just go to Disney Springs to eat and drink. I guess some people think Soarin' is worth $100 :hilarious:
