I don't know what it is, but I never really got the same thrill as other fan boys out of 20K. I've said on multiple occasions that I'd rather rate less than 5 minutes to ride The Seas with Nemo and Friends than wait 30-45 minutes to ride The Nemo Submarine Voyage.

Right there with ya.

All my life I missed 20K - we always went in October when I got to go growing up (we went every few years) and the lagoon was always drained for maintenance. I never got to ride the original, and was rather obsessive about getting details on the ride. The "really underwater" part intrigued me (as well as slightly creeped me out haha).

Finally got to ride Nemo at DL...and...it's neat. But scooching down and looking out a tiny porthole was uncomfortable, and it's just like...yeah, it's neat. But not "OMG WOW!" It's doubtful it was much more when it was actually 20K, but I wouldn't know.

People joked about us getting the short end of the stick with Nemo at The Seas, and in some ways the rides are pretty equal. And the effects work just about as well dry as they do wet - in fact, in both it's obvious it's projection screens, but I find it more convincing in ours. The water in the way actually lessens the effect, where the ones in the tank at the end of The Seas are much more seamless.

Yep. Sounds like me.

One little note pertaining to food service...
I've been looking over some plans, and it appears that the FLE will be gaining an ice cream stand over near Villiage Haus. Oddly enough, named after a character from Hunchback, Clopin.

Oh, and a pretzel stand over by the Ariel M&G. (Don't know the name of that one...)

Cream Cheese Pretzels? I know that there are more carts similar to Maurice's Popping Corn so I assume that's what's coming by Ariel.

Mmmm...not big on pretzels (never had more than a bite of one) but fill it with cream cheese and I'm so there. :)

Are they actually hollow and full of cream cheese? That sounds so good..LOL.

Yes and they are wonderful. The ones in MK have a sweet cream cheese in them. But Animal Kingdoms come with Cheddar Jalapeno cream cheese. I have only had the Sweet ones but I have been dying to try the Cheddar ones.

That is odd. But truth be told, I'm glad when the less popular animated films that won't ever merit full-blown attractions at least get noticed. Sort of like Friar's Nook -- is that still around? And the Hunchback/Clopin visual dynamic goes perfectly well with the castle courtyard theme. Didn't he have a puppet show cart in the film? I could see the ice cream cart being designed along those lines.

I also suppose my enthusiasm for this little project has something to do with the fact that I never had the chance to see any of the various live productions of Hunchback that were staged at the parks.

They're in Tomorrowland at the Lunching Pad (as someone else mentioned) and they're also at the Fife & Drum stand at The American Adventure. They used to be available at Scuttles Landing so it would be logical for them to come back to the Little Mermaid area.

I agree! I'd love to see one reference to every animated Disney film throughout Walt Disney World, no matter how small the reference. Would make for such a fun scavenger hunt.

In terms of a Hunchback reference, I'm really happy. Certainly fits the Fantasyland theme (or more specifically the French theme in Beauty and the Beast ... since Hunchback was also set in France). I truly miss the stage show that was around at DHS years back! Are Quasimodo and Esmerelda still around at Epcot doing meet and greets? If not, maybe they'll find there way over to Fantasyland?
