I've read enough of the negativity! My wife and I just had our first baby - a boy! - and I can't wait to start planning his first trip to Disney World!

Really expensive?! Don't care!

Really crowded?! Don't care!

Not the same place it was in the 80s and 90s?! I DON'T CARE!

This little baby boy is GOING TO MEET MICKEY MOUSE!!!

He's going to stroll down Main Street USA! He's going to have his picture taken with all of the characters and probably honk Goofy's big nose the same way I did! As he grows, he's going to pick out a special autograph book and get it FILLED with signatures! He's going to get to ride all of my favorite childhood rides! Space Mountain! Thunder Mountain! Splash Mountain! ALL THE MOUNTAINS!!!

I even bought one of these and have it ready in the closet for him for when he's big enough to pull it through the airport!

We will be brining our first little guy to WDW this summer. July 2018. He will be 10 months.

Think for yourselfer
Brought my first son when he was 7 months. And again for his first trip last April for his third birthday. Going again in November, 1st son will be 4.5 second son will be 10 months.

Yes it’s expensive. Yes it’s crowded. But you know what, the positives still outweigh the negatives. Landon, the first born, talks about WDW basically every day. It’s his number one wish, to go back.

Congrats! You’ll love seeing it through the little dudes eyes.

Congrats by the way. We had a boy for our first too.

Look, don't worry about what anyone says. Yes part of you will say that it logically makes sense to wait until he is able to either remember it or enjoy the rides. Don't worry about it, he'll go on enough trips in the future to remember it. One thing you'll have is your OWN memories and a bunch of pictures too. Your son will always be able to look at these. We went last year with our youngest of the three at 18 months. You know, she still had fun even though her older siblings experienced it better.

I took my son to his first Major league baseball game when he was 5 months old. Does he remember? Heck no, but it doesn't matter because I remember, and it was important to me. I will always remember my son's first baseball game and there have been and will be more where that came from.

Our girls were 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 when we took them for the first time. It was amazing seeing their faces and watching them interact with the characters. They loved the plushies but were scared of the face characters at that age.

Love this!!!

Our baby is due in June and we’re already dreaming of the ADR experiences we want to book, of seeing his face when he rides his first rides and meets characters, and I don’t care if I don’t get to ride any of the big stuff, I just wanna be there with him!

Congratulations!!!! Your baby boy will love Disney because of your love for Disney!

And let’s be honest, a vacation is really what you make of it! Gotta have the right attitude, not everything will go perfect so you just roll with it.

Congratulations! Enjoy your many many trips with your son. I have to say that when I took my son any ride that I took him on all I did was just watch his expressions the entire time. I loved being able to share my favorite place with my own child.

Thank you, everyone, for the responses! I'm not yet sure when this trip will happen but I'm spending any free time when I'm not working or taking care of the baby trying to figure it out! I'm almost glad it's not happening right away, though, because that means more time I can spend daydreaming about and planning all of the details, which is really half of the fun for me.

I read somewhere that planning a vacation and the anticipation of it is almost just as fun as actually taking it. It gives me great joy to plan a Disney vacation (probably much more than any other place). The flip side is it also brings more depression (aka "the Disney blues") when the trip is over.

Congrats! We took our first, a DS as well, when he was 15-months. He got his 1st haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop--my favorite memory of the trip! He got to see his favorite, JoJo (from JoJo's Circus...from many moon's ago) and got a stuffed Goliath lion, which he still has to this day. His brother went on his 1st WDW when he was just 1-month (not really by plan, our original vacation plan fell through, so this was a back-up plan), but older brother loved it even more! Both of my DSs have grown up going to both WDW/DLR and it has become such a great part of our family's memories. What fun you'll have planning with your family and making your own Disney memories!
