They already DID Home Improvement. I think they moved it to Backstage Pass when Superstar Television was finished, although I could be wrong because I haven't seen it there.
In the Superstar TV version, they had an audience member racing Tim to hammer nails into a board. Really he was just banging on a blue screen with a hammer.
