New Animation Tour?

Going in like 2 months, and going for the first time with my 10 year old nephew. I've been 10+ times, he's been like 5+ times, but we've never been there together.

He's not a thrill ride kid, so him and his mom never spent time at the Disney Studios really, didn't think there was much to do, so I am going to play "host" for the day when we go.

He would've loved the old Animation Tour, but what is it like now? It just came back up from rehab right? And without the animators, what is left of the attraction? Is this worth taking the time out for, or is it just sad and empty?

Help?

The animation tour was nearly worthless (and very sad and empty) for a time. There was a brief presentation by a host and Mushu from Mulan on how characters are developed (I thought it stunk compared to the old Walter and Robin film). This was followed by a short Q&A with someone who would demonstrate how to draw a character. They'd then flip a switch and show you an empty room. You'd then walk past windows where you could view countless empty desks sitting in a dimly lit room. Finally, you could either choose to learn how to draw Mickey, or you could exit.

Right now it is nearing the end of yet another rehab that is changing the place from a tour into more of an animation exhibit similar to the version found at Disney's California Adventure.

Magic of Disney Animation Details

I just saw this posted on MagicMountain. I believe it opens to the public on 10/18. AP previews are 10/15-10/18. Looks like the Mushu video is sticking around. Enjoy!

This latest event celebrates the expansion of our fun, interactive experience—The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney MGM-Studios.

During this magical exploration of Disney animation, you'll enjoy:

NEW! Animation Station - Interactive exhibits allow you to explore the animation process and make your own brand of magic

NEW! Meet & Greets - Catch characters from our latest animated films, like the Walt Disney Pictures presentation of the Pixar Animation Studios film, The Incredibles

Drawn to Animation - Discover how Disney's animated characters are made (thanks to a video starring Mulan's dragon friend, Mushu) Animation Academy - Learn to draw a Disney character

I will always miss Robin Williams & Walter.

Eisner killed the ONE thing I grew up to live for. I wanted to be nothing else than an animator for WDFA. I'm just going to get out of this thread before I get too angry, ticked off, emotional because of all this. BRING BACK 2-D ANIMATION!

I think Eisner made a VERY bad move when he took WDFA out of Florida. I can only hope the new CEO (whoever and whenever he/she may take office) will be able to woo back the wonderful animators to help make more successful Disney films, like in the past...
I'll be there for the AP previews...I'll let you know how it goes...

With the reduction in animators and severed ties with pixar, is disney moving in the direction of producing there own 3D films.
