New and Fun Suggestions for...

...AN ENGAGED COUPLE!!!!!!

Sorry, I'm SO excited. Just got back from WDW, and my boyfriend proposed on Splash Mountain. Had me sit in front with my brother, my parents in the middle, and him and my little sis in the back. Then pulled out a banner that said, "Marry Me?" and held it up as we went down the hill. I didn't see it until we stood looking at our picture after the ride, and he got down on one knee...:sohappy:

We got to wear the pins, etc...Mary freaking Poppins even wished us a Congrats...from her parade float!!!! (I cried a lot this trip, as you can imagine.)

Anyway, onto the reason for my post. We did WDW for 10 days, and had a wonderful time with my family. But for our honeymoon, I wanted to do some new and different things. Romantic things.Stay at different resorts, do new restaurants, maybe some dinner shows?

(BTW, whichever one (or several) of you told me to go to the Poly to watch the last night of Summer Nightastic Fireworks? You're a genius. It was SO fantastic!!!!)

My thoughts so far: 3 Nights at the GF, 5 Nights at the Beach Club- with reservations at:

California Grill (?)
Boma (?)
Tutto Italia
Via Napoli (?)
Yachtsman Steakhouse (?)
Sci-Fi
Portobello Yacht Club
Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch)

The ones I have (?) by, I've never eaten at, but heard good things?

What else is worth the cost? Dinner shows? Fireworks cruises? Behind the scenes tours (we don't want any of "the magic" totally ruined for us, so we're unsure about these...), and finally, dinner at Victoria and Alberts. Wanted to eat there forever, but can't break the bank on the honeymoon. $300 is so much money for one meal. But maybe the "amazingness" makes up for it??

Also heading to HPWW for a day - we've GOT to try Butterbeer. I'm going to guess renting a car is cheaper than getting a cab, yes?

Thanks for all your suggestions - excited to hear them. Will just be sitting here. Staring at my ring. Wondering how long the euphoria will last :animwink:

Congrats! What a wonderful way of proposing.

We love CG. It can be loud at times, but ask for a table in the wine room, very quite and private. It overlooks Epcot and you can watch the fireworks at Epcot if you time it right.

We are splurging this year on V&A's, my husband doesn't know about this. An anniversary gift to him this year. Look for my review when I do my trip report.

First of all, congratulations to you both! What an awesome engagement idea? Good thing PhotoPass worked, eh? :)

We honeymooned in WDW and it was incredible. I think it's amazing that you might be able to afford the GF. If I were you, I would try to stay at the Poly. I have never stayed there but that just screams honeymoon to me. Like you saw on this trip, it's amazing to watch the MK fireworks from the beach. How romantic would it be to settle into a hammock together for a little while? Not only that but they have the Kona Island Sushi Bar which is so much fun and that great lounge outside of 'Ohanas. And you could do the Luau since you'll be right there. Having stayed at WL, I would definitely recommend that for a honeymoon too. It was incredible!

As far as extras go, there's always the carriage rides to consider. I've never done one but they seem so romantic. We actually did a segway tour on our honeymoon. While it doesn't scream romance, it really was pretty cool to be touring around WS together before it opened to the general public. If you were going to do a tour, I would look into the Animal Kingdom one with the animals. I don't know much about it.

As for meals, it's your honeymoon. You really really really have to go to Vic & Al's. If you can swing it, get the chef's table with wine pairing. It's a once in a lifetime experience. I see California Grill on your list - another honeymoon must. I would add Sanaa instead of Boma. While I loved both, Sanaa was much more romantic. Artist Point at WL is supposed to be really nice. If you're not staying there, it's a good excuse to go over. We thought Biergarten was really fun for a honeymoon because they make a big fuss (and it's a great restaurant anyway).

No matter what you plan to do, it will be amazing. I'm sure you'll want to ride Splash at least once to remember your special engagement.

Oh, and don't forget your bride/groom ears. Wear them every day!

What is HPWW?

What is HPWW?

I think she means Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

amy - Congrats on the engagement. No matter what you decide, your honeymoon will be unforgettable!

The segway tour was a lot of fun, as well as the Aqua Seas (snuba) tour, both at Epcot. None of these take away the magic, but are educational and entertaining! I would also add Narcoossee's at the GF as a restaurant both romantic and yummy )

Thanks folks!! :)) (Yes, I always say it wrong and think it's Harry Potter's Wizarding World - thanks!)

I saw the Segway Tour and thought it looked like so much fun!

I would LOVE to do Victoria and Alberts - we're just having such a hard time justifying a $300 meal - maybe that will be an anniversary treat to us sometime in the future :) We're making sure to go during the 40% off Deluxe Season (well, hopefully they'll offer it again) so we can take a chance at the GF and BC. But the Poly looks awesome...wonder if we'd rather GF and Poly than GF and BC????

First off Congratulations!!!

I personally would stick with the GF and BC (DH and I are doing this in 13 days). Its nice to stay at different resort areas - having access to the monorail is great, and then being able to walk into Epcot from the BC is wonderful.

Also, Citricos at the GF is a must do for us each trip - amazing food and great atmosphere.

Have fun planning!
