New Aerials Pics and Aerial Video!!

It's always nice to see the FE from the air, but these are old pictures - the BOG restaurant now has a metal roof, and the steelwork for the rest of the restaurant is up and covered as well. I'm estimating these are a couple weeks old. Thanks for pointing to them, though, as it helps in seeing the progression of the build.

The fact that there is notnhing between Mermaid and Be Our Guest worries me. Are they hiding something or is the Snow White coaster going to open much later?

From what our insiders have been saying here, the design may not be completely finalized, but construction will be accelerated. I'm not sure how they're going to do it; it seems like a poor decision to start construction later.

The video is dated 28 November 2010.

I don't think they can accelerate construction enough to catch up with LM and BatB.

I think there's going to be an awkward period where SW is under construction out on an island by itself. That will be an almost impossible task, so maybe they have a secret up their sleeve, but seeing as they haven't even started development for a ride, I just don't see how it could catch up.

True, I think any hope of the mine ride opening by 2012 is out the window. If it took that long to simply put in Mermaid's foundation, and they haven't started digging for the new ride yet, it looks like we won't see it for a while. But given the way the construction site looks, it seems as if the Gaston's Village area won't be completed until the SW ride is, since that seems to be the main access point into the site.

I think that's one of two entrances to the site. I think that large circular drive that swoops in front of LM is also an access drive. It connects to the driveway that runs between LM and TT.

i think you are correct. i also think it is possible that sw could be finished by 2012 if it's not way to elaborate. insiders, thoughts on 2012 opening considering it doesn't appear that they've started??

I'm still waiting to see some kind of confirmation from Disney, as well as some new current artwork showing off the modified plans. It's really kind of annoying how they're trying to be hush hush when we all have a basic idea already of whats going on.

They don't want to make the same mistake twice (i.e. spilling the beans on something that wasn't ready or deliverable, just because the fans already knew about it).

Obviously they don't want that kind of screw up again, but it would be nice to give us SOMETHING...an announcement, some new artwork, something. Construction is now full speed ahead, so there's pretty much no turning back now. Things should basically be set in stone.

Supposedly, the work outside is a much quicker than the work inside will be. I remember reading on another Disney blog, before construction started, that we'd see a lot of progress in the first six months and then relatively nothing for a year.

I'm sure the SW mine train won't be nearly as complex as BATB and LM, so they could conceivably get it done in the time they're working on the insides of the two other rides.

With all of the heavy equipment being used on the outsides of the current construction, it makes sense to get those done externally before starting work on SW. Otherwise, the construction crews would just be in each other's way.

We were there on Friday and there was a lot of back-hoe work going on right by the wall. At least, from the ground it looked close to the wall. Dumbo was a very popular attraction that day.

It also kind of looked like they were putting the rebar for the facade of LM in place.

As far as SW is concerned, we're also operating under the assumption that all work that can be done is in that little plot of dirt. They could be fabricating vehicles, ride track, AA's, props, w/e as we speak, for all we know.

Correct. The shell of a building goes up relatively quickly, and then every construction project appears to have nothing happening for 75% of the time. I can't wait for everyone on here to be posting hate-threads in 2011 to express their dislike for the apparent pace of construction on LM and BatB.

"They haven't done anything for months! They must have run out of money!" or "They said 2011 opening and the building has been finished for 3 months but no announcement!"

Regarding SW, it could very well be as complicated as LM. In fact, it could be more complicated if it uses a coaster-type track, which has been implied. With LM, they build the shell, enclose it, then start on the show and ride system. With a themed coaster, you have to integrate all of the systems as you build, since the track has to blend in with the landscape, rockwork and building (like BTMR or EE). And if they're going to build in the middle of an occupied Theme Park and hope to be productive at all, they need to start ASAP.

True, but the show building and infrastructure will take just as long as LM, or any other ride. They've probably had the LM show components done for a long time - as I imagine they just made 2 of each item when they fabricated the parts for DL's version.
