So Disneyland just purchased an 11 acre site at the intersection of Harbor Blvd. and Ball road. This site will house a new employee parking garage. Here's a picture (from TPI):

The part in red is what they purchased. What's your take on this?

Where do the employees park now? Will that space be used for future guest enjoyment?

Just hints at the potential of more additional facilities/offices (back of the house/behind the scenes) and more flexibility for the resort. I guess if they wanted to somewhere down the road they could expand the northern end of DL park.

There's not enough CM parking and Katella lot is a nightmare. Katella lot will most likely not be altered in its current form (they need it).

Toy Story lot is the site of a future third gate, if that ever occurs.

This is now getting interesting.

Yes, it is getting interesting.

Things seem to be moving much faster in Anaheim than in Orlando, that's for sure. They've been talking about changes to parking at DHS for awhile, as part of the plan to expand/rebrand that park. But nothing's happened with that, and it's all still just internet rumors.

But now TDA buys up a plot of land for 1,400 CM parking spaces? That means something is happening on the other parking lots they already have, likely in anticipation of expansion inside the actual theme parks.

Very interesting.

That they are trying to catch up to their parking nightmare?

Remember... cast parking has been a disaster since the DCA expansion... requiring frequent use of having to bus employees from the stadium area.

Toy Story lot was put in as a temporary lot to compensate for the lost parking behind DCA.

DLR is in a huge parking DEFICIT - moves like this are to help catch up and have been discussed for a long time. Don't read into this thinking this means the magical 3rd gate is coming because of this.

They were already in a negative situation for parking. Moves like this are to help fix the existing parking problems..

Sounds like they are trying to emulate Universal Orlando... They are also building a new multi-story garage for employees there. Hopefully this project means something positive for Disneyland Guests (it will be definitely positive for Cast Members). I just have a question: do you think Disneyland is ready for a third theme park? Mine is a real question to understand what you think, as I love the Disneyland Resort.
